Blackrock Bord na nOg Presentations:
The Blackrock Under 14 and Under 16 hurling teams were presented with new training tops on Friday evening last kindly sponsored by Sheehy’s Centra Kilfinane and Cronin Construction Kilfinane Thank you.

Club Hurling News:
On Saturday last September 21st, the club had another busy day with three County Hurling Championship games at three different venues

Under 16 Hurlers loose out at Semi Final stage:
The Under 16 Hurlers had a very early start to the day with a 10.30am throw in Mick Neville Park , they played Croagh/Kilfinny/Rathkeale in the Mr. Binman County Under 16 Hurling Division 3 Championship Semi Final where they lost out on a 2.16 to 2.13 score-line to exit the championship in which they recorded some fine displays to reach the Semi Final, winning their group undefeated. The opening half was evenly contested, with only two points separating the sides 0.12 to 1.07 in favour of Croagh/Kilfinny/Rathkeale. Two quick goals earle in the second half put the winners in the driving seat with a lead of 2.14 to 1.08, but Blackrock fought back to score 1.05 without reply and reduce the deficit to one point, a shot for a Blackrock score hit the crossbar and rebounded back into play and cleared, a late pointed free and one from play sealed the win and a place in the final for the Croagh/Kilfinny/Rathkeale combination.
The Blackrock team was Oisin McGlinchey, Adam Kelly, Billy O’Sullivan, Michael Hennessy, Daragh Gleeson, Jack Moloney, Dara Drake, Thomas Buckley, Sean Flanagan, Troy Bucchill, James English, Tommy Murphy, Jack Roche, Jack Cronin Conor Nunan. Substitutes Gearoid Flanagan, Alex Fitzgerald, Jack Murphy, Noah Ryan, Ethan Penny. Management Team Steve Cronin, Ben Murphy, Danny Power. Well Done to all involved with the team throughout what was a very good year.

Intermediate Team:
Intermediate side out of Championship contention following loss to Granagh/Ballingarry
In Round 6 of the Lyons of Limerick County Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship game played in Kilmallock on Saturday afternoon Granagh/Ballingarry provided the opposition in what was essentially a must-win game for both sides, both sides coming into the game with two wins from five outings. Blackrock were the early pace setters and were 2.04 to 0.01 after ten minutes of play, Richie McCarthy and Callan Ensor the goal scores. As the game progressed Granagh/Ballingarry came more into the game out scoring Blackrock 0.07 to 0.01 in the second quarter to leave the score at the interval Blackrock 2.05 Granagh/Ballingarry 0.08.
On the resumption of play, Granagh/Ballingarry reduced the deficit to two points before they scored their first goal after 39 minutes of play, two quick fire goals within a minute saw Blackrock trailing by eight points,after 53 minutes of play, however they rallied, a penalty goal from Paudie Leahy followed by their fourth goal from a scramble in the square with the clock in stoppage time, Granagh/Ballingarry had the final point of the game from a free to secure the victory on a score-line of 3.17 to 4.11
The result ends Blackrock’s hopes of progressing to the knock-out stages, they meet high flying Newcastle West in the final round outing in Ballyagran on Saturday week October 5th. Juniors loose out:
On Saturday evening. in the Woodlands House Hotel County Junior ‘A’ Hurling Championship Round r game, Feenagh was the venue for the meeting of Blackrock and Rathkeale, who proved best to win by 2.19 to 0.05 to condemn Blackrock to a relegation final, which is fixed for this Sunday September 29th in Kilbreedy at 4pm with Bruff providing the opposition.
