BALLYLANDERS
Our Senior footballers once again made the trip to Ballyagran on Saturday evening for round two of the championship where they faced St Kieran’s. This was a much improved performance from the previous week and were only piped in the final moments to loose the game by one point. Steve Fox had our first goal from the penalty spot and with Shane O’Donoghue’s radar on fire we had opened up a six point lead by the first quarter. Kiearns were back in it soon after though with a goal of there own and at the break there was only two points between the sides. We got off to a great start again in the second half with points from Ciaran Kelly, Jimmy Barry Murphy and Eoin O’Mahony goaled within the opening seven minutes, unfortunately a Liam Dehenny point on the tenth minute was to be our final score of the game as we tired and one by one St Kieran’s closed out the game to secure the victory. This was so disappointing after such a hard working performance from all the lads. After a difficult week in the community to see the O’ Callaghan brothers who lost their mother Kitty and Danny Frewen who buried his grandfather Martin earlier that day all togged out and ready to be called on shows what the club means to them & their families. Team and scorers, Declan O’Connor, Pa Holian, Donal Kelly, Steve Walsh, Tom O’Dywer, Shaun Moloney, Cillien O’Brien, Eoin O’Mahony (1-0), Pa Shanahan, Steve Fox (1-1), Jimmy Barry Murphy (0-1), Liam Dehenny (0-1), Ciaran Kelly (0-2), Eoin Walsh, Shane O’Donoghue (0-3). Subs used, Danny Frewen, Mark O’Connell, Osin Brown.
Our Junior B team had a comfortable win on Monday evening against neighbours Galbally in the South championship with goals from Kieran O’Callaghan, Peter Lane and Seamie Ryan giving them a 3-11 to 0-10 victory. Well done to all the lads involved.
Everyone in Ballylanders Gaa would like to send our condolences to Billy O’Callaghan and family on the sad passing of Kitty and to Magerget Frewen and family on the passing of Martin snr during the week. May they rest in peace.
