Pairsh Leagues:
Another hugely successful day. The weather held off to make it a fun filled family day out once again this year. First up the ladies with no one holding back( literally) it was Churchside who took the first title of this competition. Jade Gillane was captain and accepted the trophy- she had no speech ready and was disappointed Caileigh wouldn’t share the one she’d prepared. Next up saw 70 men & boys file in. All shining in their New Jersey’s. Some were back “for one day only” but don’t be surprised if you see them in training they enjoyed it so much. Once again Ferrybridge seemed to have worked the townland to include the fittest and most elite players to take the title for the second year running. Word has it the cost of sites and houses have risen overnight in anticipation of next year. Not only did Andrew “cuddles” collect the trophy as captain but he got Man of the match. Thanks to our refs – Get Curtin & Cyril Doolan who were very fair overall and absolutely did not give advantage to teams from their area or family who were playing or managers- no stewards enquiry needed thank God. To all our sponsors – we come back time and time again looking for sponsorship and you never disappoint – we ask people to always support our local companies and sponsors where you can.Yesterday couldn’t happen without the work of so many people – we wouldn’t like to leave anyone out but we must thank a few; The senior players who turn out in such numbers and came up with the concept- it takes weeks of work for them to set up teams, jerseys, social media, sell tickets – special mention I’m sure no one will mind to Aidan for all his work. Catherine Hall and her bar staff who couldn’t have worked any faster or harder to keep the drinks flowing. She even persuaded a few oldies to come back “for one night only”. The Committee members who helped set up and did a few hours that evening around the bar.The field committee – the field WAS in great shape, especially the goals all nice and new- although it now looks like 200 cattle broke in so it might need a bit of work to turn it around again. The U14 girls who painted so many faces they never want to see a shamrock again. Melissa & Kenneth and their staff- the food was outstanding. Mad Macs- not sure if they were back for “one night only” but as usual the place was rocking – they will always be the firm favourite – someone book in next year asap. Everyone who bought tickets and turned up on the day. It means everything to see the Clubhouse field packed . Friends and neighbours catching up, local rivalry over teams and managers. Children with hurls in their hand pucking balls till it was past darkness and just having fun. Thank you so much for your support again this. The monies raised yesterday goes towards the running costs of our senior teams. Please come out this year to the matches and show them our support #Bailebrún Abú. Go raibh maith agat gach duine.
