BALLYBRICKEN/BOHERMORE GAA CLUB NOTES
Junior A Hurling: On Saturday the 11/9/21 the lads played round 2 of the JAHC against Drom Broadford in Croom. Bally started lively racing into a two point lead with two super point from Micheal Martin. It took Drom Broadford a few minarets to settle but when they did they hit 1:03 unanswered. Their big strong full forward causing havoc. Dan McGuire and Eoighan O’Neill keeping the Bally fight alive with some well taken scores from play. At the water break the goal separated the teams. Both teams traded points in the second quarter with John Casey pulling off a super save with his body. John Stack and Jack Owens with vital blocks and hooks to stop certain Drom Broadford scores. half time score of 1:08 to 0:08. The second half continued like the second quarter and both teams continued to exchange scores one after another in a very tight affair with Conor McCarthy growing more and more into the game as it went on. At the second water point there was only two points between the teams. Bally came out all guns blazing after the water break and Micheal Martin stuck a fantastic goal which was created by Conor McCarthy. Points continued to be traded between both sides as Drom Broadford fought back, but the game was put to bed in the second minute of extra time when Eoighan O’Neill rattled the back of the Drom Broadford net. Bally saw out a hard fought victory on a scoreline of 2:17 to 1:16. Next up is out neighbours, Caherline, next Saturday at 4pm in Cappamore.
Junior B Hurling: Our Junior Bs played their opening game of the East Championship on Thursday night against Cappamore in Cappamore. Cappamore raced into an early four point lead before David Grimes got bally underway with a free. Cappamore got going again and slotted two points before Jack Cross took a lovely score just before the water break. Bally down 6-2. Whatever was said at the water break seemed to work as Bally came out all fired up. scores from David Grimes and Jack Cross saw bally trailing by only one at half time. Cappamore got two quick points before scores from Denis Stack and Eoighan O’Neill got bally back in the hunt again. Cappamore were reduced to 10 men and the game was in the balance. Colm Teefy was quickest to react to a loose ball around the square to put the ball in the back of the Cappamore net. Bally now led by a single point. Jack Cross and Eoighan O’Neill fort some crucial scores near the end to see bally win out on a scoreline of 1:11 to 0:11. Next up is Murroe Boher.
Underage: On Saturday our U13 Hurlers became county champions when they beat Blackrock 1:13 to 3:02. This is a fantastic achievement for this group of players and Management. The panel of players is Rory & Michael Hanly, Cillian Murphy, John Pratt, Matthew Cox, Daniel Barry, Oran Barry, Ronan Connelly, John Humphreys, Conor O’Brien, Taigh Hathaway, Ryan Martin, Donagh O”Callaghan, Robert Nash, Dean Daly, Sammy O”Donoghue, Shane Wharton and Thomas Hartnet.
Club Notices: There was no winner of the Bally club lotto which was held on Monday night in the clubhouse. Congratulations to John Casey, Colm Teefy, Kevin Vaughan & Grace Hurley on their lucky dips. The next draw will be held on the 13th September 2021 and the jackpot is €10,400.
