BALLYBRICKEN/BOHERMORE GAA CLUB NOTES

Junior A football: On Tuesday night our Junior A footballers played the County Junior A Football League Final against Feenagh/Kilmeedy in Croom. it was a very tense and tight affair. Bally got off to a fine start with Jack Cross getting an audacious score off the outside of his boot from way out. Feenagh rallied well to get three unanswered scores before the water break. The second quarter was as tense as the first with both teams trading points leaving bally trailing 5-3 at half time. Bally started the second half the brighter with Conor McCarthy taking two very good points before Bally were reduced to 14 men when mark o dea was black carded for a foul inside the square. Feenagh buried home the penalty to put them in a 3 point lead. both teams again exchanged scores before Jack Cross stepped up and scored a great goal after intense pressure from the Bally forwards. this seemed to give the lads the confidence they needed to see out the game with Jack Cross slotting a beaut of a 45 to see bally win out on a scoreline of 1:08 to 1:06. Jason Cross then accepted the county league trophy on behalf of the team. Junior B hurling: The lads played glenroe in the semi final of the junior b county hurling league semi final on Thursday in Knocklong. conditions were testing for both teams with heavy rain. this game was also a tight affair with the first quarter saw both teams trading points with glenroe ahead by one at the water break and this trend continued in the second quarter and at half time glenroe lead by one. in the second half bally played a very physical game and really got stuck into glenroe. This pressure paid off as Bally soon found themselves 12-8 up at the second water break. the game was in the balance but bally were full of confidence and Jack Cross caused havoc sticking 1:01 in the space of 60 seconds. Glenroe fought back well but the lads hung on to win on a scoreline of 1:14 to 2:09. the lads are now in the county junior b hurling league final on Monday (2/8/21) at 7pm in Clarina against Tournafulla.
