BALLYBRICKEN/BOHERMORE GAA CLUB NOTES

Junior A hurling: Our junior A hurlers took on Doon in the fourth round of the east league recording an excellent win on a score line of 4-14 to 1-15. Played in Caherelly we settled early and with the aid of a slight breeze took the lead with scores from Michael Martin and a Conor MaCarthy goal. We battled hard in the middle third and with our forwards on top we scored a further two goals coming from Daniel Owens leaving us leading at half time 3-8 to 1-7. The second period seen our opponents come on strong and we coneded the first few scores, after a minor dust up between the two sides we reacted well and got another goal from Daniel Owens to leave us in control in the closing stages. This win qualifies us for an the East league final to be played in next few weeks. Junior B hurling: Bally got a win in the third round of junior b east league beating Murroe-Boher by 1-14 to 2-06. In a match we were on top from the start and led at the break by 10 points to 4. We continued on top and an Aidan Power goal secured the win for us. A great win for the lads with the match highlight a Tommy Carroll point from an ever growing distance. Junior Football: Early last week we played South Liberties and lost out in the east league by 4-12 to Ballys 4-04. We were on the back foot from early on and trailed by 7 points at half time with a Colm Teefy goal keeping us in contact. The second period seen the teams share 6 goals in total with Ballys three coming from Conor McCarthy by 2 and John Hanly in a half that was full of bizarre judgements which was topped by the black card shown to the angelic Hugh Leonard late on. Minor hurling: Kilpeacon a combination of Ballybricken-Bohermore, Crecora and Fedamore played out a great game of hurling against Ahane in the second round off the minor championship recording a draw on a score line of 5-15 to 2-24. Played in Ballys home ground we got off to a slow start before goals from Cathal O Neill by 2 and Brendan Power had us leading at half-time by the minimum 3-04 to 1-09. Once again the second period seen our opponents take the initiative leaving us trailing by four after 10mins. Once again in this end to end affair we struck back with a goal from a dead ball from a Cathal O Neill strike, we led by 2 going into injury time but Ahane battled back and the teams could not be separated at full-time.
