U20 Hurling:
Our u20 hurlers played Blackrock in the county semi final on Wednesday in UL in front of great support from the Ballybricken/Bohermore crowd. Blackrock looked sharp from the first whistle and the fast surface of UL suited their style of play well. They quickly went a few points up and our backs needed to be at their best. Bally going their rhythm halfway through the first half and a flurry of goals followed. Rory Hanly won a great ball in the half forward line before passing to Jack Barry who calmly found the bottom corner. Shortly after Michael Hanly broke through the defence to rattle the net, he doubled his tally without delay after combining well with his brother Rory to send the ball into the roof of the net. Blackrock went down the pitch and were awarded a penalty. John Pratt stood tall and made a brilliant save and clearance to deny the Blackrock man and see both teams head in at halftime on level scores.
The second half was a lot more open and Blackrock made good use of their speed in the forwards. Scott Ryan did his best to keep Bally in touch. He slotted over a couple of frees while also winning several puck outs in a row and converting some well taken scores. Blackrock seemed to have the upper hand through out the second half and despite ballys best efforts they were unable to get their noses back in front. Final score B/B: 3-08 Blackrock: 2-17.
