Purple & Gold Jubilee Gathering:
On Saturday 15th we remembered the winning teams of 1975 and 2000. All management and players received a commemorative frame with team photos. The club would like to thank Matt O’Callaghan who was superb as MC. We would like to thank Eamonn Cregan who was coach to the 1975 team for making the presentations to the team. We heard tales of only Saturday training sessions, character building press ups, fan clubs, CBS Harty cup teams and that such was the celebration after the whistle that our victorious players returned to the dressing room full of delight only to realise, they had forgotten to remain on the pitch for the cup presentation. The club would like to thank Gerry O Sullivan for returning to the club to make the presentations to the footballers of 2000. The footballers told tales of replays and that for many the road to victory started with the great work done by their coaches from when they were underage. Andrew Grene compiled a record of matches, player stories and team pictures from both eras and this booklet was available on the night to all. The night was full of stories of brothers, of emigrants to London, America and Clare, of immigrants from Oola, Galbally, Laois, Clare, Kerry and Knockea, all were remembered and applauded. Looking around the room the greatest thing of all was how many from those teams are still involved with the club, on committees, as coaches or supporting our weekly lotto. The club would like to thank everyone who supported the evening, by donating spot prizes, or buying raffle tickets, we would like to thank Donal and Francis Kirby for the hospitality on the night and their generous donation towards the cost of the evening. Pictures from the evening are available on our social media.
