County Semi Final

B/B vs Knockane Saturday 1st November. 2pm in Kilmallock.

B/B faced Knockaderry in the county quarter final on Saturday. Knockaderry were fresh off the back of county success in the premier junior hurling and they carried that momentum into the football Saturday. They started much the better team and dominated the first 15 minutes, kicking two 2 pointers to establish a strong lead. B/B fought hard but found scores very difficult to come by. With Knockaderry 6 points up, Callum Murphy finally got Ballybricken off the mark from a free. Kyle Tierney was a handful in the full forward line and was very unlucky not to be rewarded with a goal only for an excellent save by the Casey keeper. Not to be outdone, John Casey at the other end made a massive save from point blank range to keep B/B in the game. Knockaderry remained tough to breakdown but a well taken score form Conor McCarthy just before halftime gave Ballybricken some bit of hope. Halftime score 8 points to 3 to Knockaderry.

The strong wind on the day had a massiev influence on the game. With the wind at our backs in the second half B/B finally found their stride. Points from Scott Ryan, Joe Teefy and Niall Martin narrowed the gap in a dominant start to the second half. Was ensued was a tough physical battle with the equalising score looking elusive for B/B. A late push from Ballybricken saw Dan McGuire grab the equaliser before a brilliant effort from Conor McCarthy floated over to put Bally ahead in the dying minutes of the game. Knockaderry tried hard to grab an equaliser but some excellent defending from Pa Byrne, Cody O’Brien and Liam Byrne in the fullback line kept Knockaderry at bay. B/B saw out the game to win by the narrowest of margins.

B/B now face Knockane in the count semi final this Saturday.

Jubilee Gathering: 

The club is inviting members to a Jubilee Gathering on November 15th at Kirbys Bar at 8:30pm to celebrate the teams of 1975 and 2000. There will a raffle on the night and any spot prizes would be greatly appreciated.
