BALLYBRICKEN/BOHERMORE GAA CLUB NOTES
Junior Hurling: Our junior a hurlers contested the county league final on Friday last against Fennagh Kilmeedy losing out 1-19 to 0-15, played in Croagh the teams were evenly matched in the early stages with the teams tied 5 all after the first quarter. Our scores coming from the inside line of Conor McCarthy and Daniel Owens with us gaining a stronghold around the middle we kicked on to lead to 0-10-0-6 but we went in level at half-time after conceding four late scores. Playing into a slight breeze the half began poorly as we conceded 1-2 in the opening five minutes, Daniel Owens struck back with a point followed up by Owen o Neill but the margin remained four. We struggled to score in the second period with a total of five points recorded and all though we battled hard the winners pulled away in the last five minutes winning out by 7 points in the end. Junior Football: The first round of the junior football championship was played last Monday night against Ahane in Cappamore in a low scoring first half we traded scores and were two all after 15 mins of play our opponents were reduced to 14 soon after. This left us more attacking room and we finished the half strongly with points from Alan O Riordan plus John stack and Conor McCarthy hitting the net to leave us leading 1-5 to 0-5 at the break and looking in control, we kicked on in the second half and extended our lead to 2-06 to 0-6 with our second goal coming from the roving Jack Owens. We kept our lead and could have extended further but going into the last five minuets we led by five, unfortunately Ahane got 1-2 in the closing stages and on the full time whistle the sides were level Bally 2-10 Ahane 1-13. There are three more games in the group with Monagea, Bruree and Castlemahon our opponents. Fixtures and notices: The minor hurlers joined with Crecora and Fedamore play Na Piarsaigh in round four of the minor championship on Tuesday the 06/08/19. The east semi-final of the junior hurling championship is taking place this Sunday against Doon throw in 3.15pm in Cappamore all support welcome.
