Junior A Hurling:
Our Junior Hurlers played their final group game against Kildimo in Rathbane on Sunday. There was a strong breeze blowing straight down the field which Bally had for the first half. A monster point from Scott Ryan got Bally of the mark quickly followed by a well taken score from Conor McCarthy. Kildimo responded with a point to open their account for the day. The two teams traded points with free takers from both teams very clinical. Conor McCarthy kept the scoreboard ticking while Scott ryan chipped in with another free from his own half back line. With the teams neck and neck Kildimo broke through our defence and struck for goal. Bally responded well, frees again from Carthy as well as a well taken point from Eoin Clifford kept us in it before Jack Owens was hauled down for a penalty. Conor McCarthy stepped up and stuck the penalty to leave it level 1-11 a piece heading into the break.
Kildimo got the first score straight from a free in the second half and quickly made use of the breeze to add another few scores. Bally responded with points of their own before a long puck out onto the 14 was caught and converted for a goal for Kildimo. Bally fought hard and James hickey broke through the defence before popping off to Jack Owens who converted for a goal of our own. Teams traded points with Kildimo making use of the wind to their advantage to go 6 points ahead. Great skill from Conor McCarthy left Colm Teefy getting another goal back to bring it back to 3 points however, the push for another goal in the last few minutes proved unsuccessful. Final score KD/P 2-23 B/B 3-17. Team Dylan D Conway, Eoin Clifford, Colm O’ Riordan, Cody O Brien, Scott Ryan, Pa Byrnes, Alan O Riordan, Jack Owens, Dan McGuire, David Ryan, Sean Teefy, Joseph Teefy, James Hickey, Conor McCarthy, Niall Martin Subs Colm Teefy, Craig Power, Dan Owens, Sean Nolan, Darragh Clifford, Paul Martin, Cathal O’Neill.
