BALLYBRICKEN/BOHERMORE GAA CLUB NOTES

 

Junior A Champ: Ballybricken-Bohermore got their first win of the junior Championship beating Cappamore 2-18 to 2-08, played in Caherconlish on Friday night last we began slowly and conceded an early goal to trail by 4 in the opening minutes. The lads responded well and a Daniel Owens goal helped us back  into the game we traded scores and were level at half-time 1-06 to 1-06 with our lads starting to gain the edge. We began the second period in excellent fashion with a goal from Michael Martin we managed to stretch our lead with points from Aidan Power, Daniel Owens and Enda Frawley which left us leading by eight with 15 left. Our opponents goaled late on but in the end we ran out comfortable winners by 10 points after a hard fought fixture. Junior A League: On Tuesday night last we played Kilmallock in the hurling league county semi final we got the perfect start with Aidan Power finishing to the net inside 2 minutes, we drove on from this early goal and led 1-10 to 0-5 with some excellent scores from around the middle third. We continued our excellent start with three goals in the last 10 mins of the half with Aidan Power getting his second and Daniel Owens firing in a quick double leaving us leading 4-11 to 1-06 at the break with no major breeze to speak off. In a game of two halves our opponents came strong after the break and our lead was reduced to 5 points midway through the half.  We got our fifth goal from Daniel McGuire which settled us again and we finished the stronger of the teams running out winners 5-18 to 5-09  in high scoring contest. We now advance to play Fennagh Kilmeedy in the league county final on a date yet to be confirmed well done to management and all players involved team from Team from Shane O Neil, Mark O Dea, Enda O Callaghan, Paul Martin, Sean Teefy, Colm Nicholl, Matt Mitchell, Jack Owens,  Eoin Kloos, Colm Teefy, Niall Mitchell, Michael Martin, Daniel Owens, Aidan Power, Daniel Maguire, John Casey, Eoghan O Neill, Joseph Teefy, Hugh Leonard.

Minor hurling: Our minors hurlers played out another high scoring contest against Patrickswell last Thursday night losing out by three points in the Patrickswell GAA grounds. In a tight contest the teams traded scores throughout the first half with the game having a stop start nature with the whistle being blown at regular intervals it was the battle of two excellent free takers Patrick Kirby for the well and Cathal O Neill of Kilpeacon both on song from dead balls and we trailed by 3 at the break 0-13 to 0-16. The second half was left flow more and the match opened up with our lads working very hard throughout we closed within a point going into the last few mins with thanks to a Cathal O Neill hat-trick, but our opponents held on finally winning by 2-23 to 3-17.
