Results:
West Junior A Championship Q/F
Athea 3-12 Mountcollins 2-10
Our Junior A Team played their opening game of the West Junior A Championship last Wednesday in Tournafulla against Mountcollins. This was an evenly contested game in which there were goals aplenty in the first half with Brian O Connor getting an early brace and Dylan Griffin hitting the net before the interval. However, James Brouder and Timmy Walsh continued to keep the scoreboard ticking for Mountcollins. The half-time scoreline was 3-03 to 2-07 where we trailed by a point.
In the second half we added nine points to their three points to run out winners on a scoreline of 3:12 to 2:10. TJ Hunt and Sean Ryan accounted for 10 points throughout. Tomas Ahern saved a penalty late in the game from James Brouder to keep the margin comfortable. This was a solid performance against a resolute Mountcollins team who contested this game well over the hour.
Team: Tomas Ahern, Sean Twomey, Tommy Quaid, Eoin Sheahan, Callum Buckley, Andy Ahern, Eoin O’Shea, Martin Chawke, Jonathan Fitzgerald, Daire O Shea, TJ Hunt,0-06, Evan Curry 0-01f, Sean Ryan 0-04, Dylan Griffin 1-0, Brian O Connor 2-01 Subs: Mark Reidy, David o Connor, Aidan Curry

County Junior B League Final:
Athea 1-05 Oola 2-13
We came up against a well organised Oola team in Clarina on Friday. In the early stages Oola had a lot of possession and were three points up by the 9th minute. They had power and fluency and pinned us back for much of the first half.
We had an opportunity when Aidan Curry’s fisted goal attempt from a high ball from Daire O Shea was saved by the keeper in the12th minute. Oola continued to dominate and had 2:08 on the board when we registered our first two scores just before half-time, a goal from the busy Rory Cleary and a point by Mark Reidy from play.
The half-time score was 2-08 to 1-01.
In the second half Oola added two quick points before Sean Ryan had a half chance of goal which he put into the side netting. He put over a free in the 42nd minute.
We rolled on subs to freshen things up but still found scoring difficult as they added a further three points. Sean Ryan added a further point from a free and then a two pointer free in the last few minutes before the referee blew full time with the final score being 2-13 to 1-05.
Although this final proved to be too much for us there are positives to be taken from our campaign. There was opportunity for younger players to get a taste of adult football which will prepare them for the next step up. It was also a chance to keep as many players as we can playing adult football.
This was the sixth Junior B match played this year with the next game being scheduled for this Tuesday when we play Glin away in the Semi-final of the West Junior B C’ship.
Team: Tomas Ahern, Cillian O’Connor, Philip Daly, David O ‘Connor, Jamie Collins, Martin Chawke, Sean Twomey, Tadhg Ahern, Andy Ahern, Michael Walsh, Daire O’Shea, Mark Reidy 0-01, Aidan Curry, Sean Ryan 0-04 (2f,1tpf), Rory Cleary 1-0 Subs: Jack Sexton, Neilus Hunt, Emmet White, Gerard Ahern, Darren Murphy, Dan McMahon.
