Athea GAA Club Notes:
Split the Bucket:
The first of our Split the Bucket draws took place on Monday evening last at the Club House. Many thanks to everyone who purchased envelopes. The total collected was €462, with half of this (€231) up for grabs. Congratulation to Tom Snow who was the lucky winner. The next draw will take place on Monday June 19th. Buckets will be available in all local establishments in the coming weeks, and will also be available to purchase at Bingo on Friday nights. Envelopes are priced at one for €2, or three for €5. Thanks to everyone for your continued support.
Club Development Draw:
Tickets are now on Sale for the Athea GAA Club Development Draw. This year, the top prize each month will be an amazing €1,000! Total prize fund is €7,200. Funds raised from this draw will go towards Development Projects including improvements the carpark and training pitches. Tickets are priced at €50 and can be purchased from any of our sellers, or online through Club Force. The link for Club Force is on our social media pages.
Reclamation:
Work has begun on our two training pitches at the High Field, with the initial work being to raise the bottom area and to level the top area, before drainage and sanding. When completed, this will be a huge addition to the club and take some pressure off the main pitch which is in constant use.

U7s
Our U7 footballers played in a Blitz hosted by Killeedy GAA last Saturday on a beautiful sunny morning. They performed brilliantly in all their matches vs Killeedy and Shannon Geals, well done to all the players.
Athea LGFA Notes
U8 Girls
Well done to the u8 girls team who traveled to Ballyhahill last Monday night. On the night they played Gerald Griffins, Fr Casey’s and St Senans. Their skills and determination are improving with every game. Thanks to the coaches for their dedication, the parents for their support and Gerald Griffins for hosting a lovely evening.
U12 Girls
Congrats to our u12 girls on a great display against Gerald Griffins last Friday night. Our numbers were low on the night but that didn’t deter the girls from putting on a great display of football.
U14
Hard luck to our u14’s who were defeated by Oola in the league semi final last Wednesday night in Cappamore. The girls are improving with every game they play and we look forward to seeing them progress in the championship in the coming weeks.
Sympathy:
Athea GAA wishes to offer our condolences to our former secretary and current executive committee member Pat O’ Sullivan on the sad passing of his father, Connie O Sullivan, Lower Athea. We would also like to convey our sympathies to the wider O’Sullivan family sons Sean, Connie, daughters Breda, Margaret and Mary and brother Patie & extended family. May the sod rest lightly on his gentle soul.
