Athea GAA Club Notes:

Athea GAA Chairperson:
Congratulation to John Hunt who has been newly appointed as the Chairman of Athea GAA. John, and indeed all the Hunt family have a long association with Athea GAA, and we are delighted John has taken up this position. John will be assisted by an executive committee of 19 individuals, all working towards the positive development of Athea GAA.

Step to the Beat:
We had a great turn out last week for week one of ‘Step to the Beat’. For anyone reading this for the first time, Step to the Beat is a designated hour each Thursday from 6.30pm – 7.30pm during lent, where music will play over a sound system around the perimeter of the track. We are welcoming song suggestions from the Public to add to the playlist. We are also running a competition to win an Easter Hamper, with lines on sale priced at one line for €2, or three lines for €5. Lines will be available to purchase during the Step the Beat Hour at the Clubhouse. This is a fundraiser for the new Sound System and CCTV Cameras at the Club as well as underground cabling totalling €8,500. The feedback from last week was very positive, so please do come along this week for a walk, hop and a skip to your favourite tracks!

Facility Development:
It is envisaged work will commence shortly on the draining of the upper and lower Training Pitches by Allmans Contractors. Plans are also in place to upgrade our car park and increase the number of spaces for parking. More details will be issued in the coming weeks.
