ATHEA GAA CLUB NOTES

Free Talk on Addiction & Mental Health
Healthy Athea will be running an awareness night with former Limerick hurling legend Ciarán Carey.
This event will be a very worthwhile evening as he will be dealing with the signs of addiction in our community and better understanding of the signs and dealing with mental health issues.
Keep this date in your diary. It promises to be a very worthwhile evening. February 25th at Con Colbert Hall @ 7.30pm.
Denis Moore RIP
Our Club were saddened to hear about the recent death of Denis Moore RIP. A native of Castlegregory, Denis played minor with Kerry and senior with Limerick. He was an excellent goalkeeper who fearlessly guarded the square. Denis won a Junior County Medal with Athea in 1963. Our sympathies to Denis’ wife Mag, daughters Siobhan and Mairead, and extended family.
Presentation Night
A medal presentation night took place at Brown Joe’s Bar on Saturday night last, where the West Intermediate League Champions 2021 received their medals. Chairman Paul Curry thanked the team and management for their efforts throughout the year, and looked forward to making more strides in the Junior Championship in 2022. Trainer Eamon Mc Elligott also praised the team and thanked all the background team at Athea GAA who keep the show going behind the scenes. Johnny Walsh then presented the medals representing the West County Board. Many thanks to Eamon and staff at Brown Joes for looking after us on the night.
