Development of Walking Track In the not too distant future, we are hoping to improve the surface of our walk & talk track by laying tarmacadam on the limestone chips surface. This will greatly improve the walkway and make the surface smoother. We will be erecting a loan thermometer at our Club house in the near future, and we hope the Athea Community will come on board to assist us in reducing this balance significantly during 2021.Any ideas / contributions would be most welcome. Contact any member of the committee for further information.
Irish Cancer Society
Regular track users may have noticed a lady wearing an Irish Cancer Society T-Shirt walking the track in recent weeks. Local resident Angela Cafferky is currently raising funds for the Irish Cancer Society by taking on a steps challenge, with many of her steps generated at Athea Walk & Talk Track. This is a charity close to many of our hearts and is deserving of our support. Angela is encouraging all track users to join her in her steps challenge and in turn make a donation to the Irish Cancer Society. Donation buckets will be available in local establishments. Please contact Angela for further information. The steps challenge will come to an end on March 31st.
