Athea GAA Club Notes:
Club Result:
County U20 A Football Championship- Group 2 Round 1
Galtee Gaels 1-19 Shannon Gaels Athea 1-07
Our U20s made the long journey to Kilbehenny last Saturday to play Galtee Gaels in Round 1 of the U20 A Football Championsip. We got off to a sluggish start and showed no great fluency as we were closed down by a resolute Galtee Gaels side who were very much up for the game. The home side were well organised and efficient and went in at halftime four points up on a scoreline of 0-08 to 0-04. In the second half, we were no better and were continually exposed by a well balanced team who kicked points at their ease. We never got going properly and found it difficult to create enough space to get scores. This team is better than they displayed on Saturday and will need to go back top the drawing board ahead of the Ahane game. The final score was 1-19 to 1-07.

Ladies Football AGM:
The Ladies club will hold their AGM in Athea GAA clubhouse at 6pm on Sunday 30th November at 6pm. We would encourage as many people to attend as we always welcome new committee members with new ideas. New volunteers are vital to help the club to grow and prosper.
Minor Ladies:
Hard luck to our minor ladies who lost to St Pats in the shield field last Sunday. Although they were missing a nunber of regulars the girls played with heart and determination up to the final whistle. Special mention to the younger girls who stepped up to make sure we could fulfil the fixture. The minors last game of the year will be the league final V’s Oola – time, date and venue to be confirmed.
U16 County Team 2026:
Huge well done to Shauna Collins and Loren Healy who made the u16B team for 2026 after a very competitive trial process. We wish them and their teammates the best of luck in the coming season. We look forward to following their progress.
Well done to Colton Brouder who played full back on the West Limerick primary schools team who won the Sarsfield Cup on Wednesday night in the gaelic grounds under lights.
They defeated the city who were going for 4 in row.
