Club Fixtures:
Woodlands House Hotel County Premier Junior A Football Championship- Group 1-Round 3
Venue: Abbeyfeale. Date/time: Thursday September 4th 2025. 6:15pm
Athea v Mountcollins
On Thursday we meet Mountcollins in Round 3 of the Championship. We have already beaten them earlier this year and need to repeat this to remain in contention to qualify for the knockout out stages of this year’s Championship.
The journey is short to go to this one but note the early time of 6:15pm.
Woodlands House Hotel County Junior C Football Championship- Group 2-Round 3
Venue: Meanus. Date/time: Saturday September 6th 2025. 5pm
Athea v Camogue Rovers
On Saturday our second team have their second match of the Junior C Championship in Meanus at 5pm.
This competition gives the broader panel an opportunity to get competitive game time. In our previous match we had over 20 players togged which is great to see and bodes well for the future.

Matches at the Field:
County Senior football championship.
Newcastle West will play neighbours St Kierans in the much anticipated round 3 of the championship in Athea this friday the 5th at 6.15pm. Both teams are unbeaten with 2 wins each, but Newcastle west will start as favourites as recent champions, They have a host of county players, including Darren O Doherty, Ian Corbett and Emmet Richter, while St Kierans will look to Darragh Tracy, Liam Kennedy and John Hayes from Knockfinisk for inspiration.

County Intermediate Football championship:
On Saturday sept 6th at 5pm Gerald Griffins will play Newcastle West in round three, with both teams in need of the points to stay in the hunt for the knockout stages.

Limerick Masters:
For the first time limerick masters contest the all Ireland challenge cup final. Limerick have had a really good season up to this point with good wins in tight games the biggest one to date against Clare in the semi finals no doubt the best performance of the year to book there place in the final this Saturday against London, who themselves have had a good year with some good wins. It will be all to play for this Saturday and hopefully limerick come out on top. Sending best wishes to the limerick masters and Mike reidy who captains the team. Hopefully bringing silverware back to the treaty county.

Girls:
U14’s Championship
Huge well done to Athea / Glin u14’s who played Ahane last Wednesday night in Ahane coming away with a great win on the scoreline of 10.9 to 5.15. They will now face Cappagh in Cappagh Wednesday 10th September at 6.30pm.

U10 Girls:
Huge well done to our u10’s who play Glin in Athea last Wednesday night. Our girls showed great still and determination in both games with some great blocking, defending and point scoring. Huge thanks to Glin for travelling.

Intermediate Championship:
Hard luck to our intermediate team lost out to Fr Casey’s last Thursday night in Athea. They showed some great heart and determination all through the game. They will now met Galtee Gaels away at 4.30 this Sunday 7th . They will need to show to same fight as they did last Thursday to avoid this years intermediate B competition.

Hurling:
Hurling training will continue over the summer. Wednesday nights 7pm to 8pm for U14 and U16. Sunday morning for all ages 10 am to 11 am

Split the Bucket:
The last draw took place the 25th of August. The Lucky winner of €281 is Grace Lavin. Club Development Draw:
Draw starts this Friday the 5th of September
This has been running since the 1980s and is our biggest source of regular funding. There are cash prizes to be won totaling €7200.
Many of you buy a ticket already or maybe a family member does annually. If you haven’t bought a ticket, I want to encourage you to buy one this year or buy one between 2 or more to share a prize.
The online sales have now closed, but a ticket can be purchased by contacting any committee member. There will be 5 draws between now and December with the first Draw taking place on Friday September 5th at the club house at 9pm.
The tickets cost €50 for entry to 5 monthly draws, with a top prize each month of €500, followed by €300, €200 and 4 x€100 prizes. There are extra cash prizes in the December draw and a free club draw ticket for the 2026 draw also drawn each month.
The total prize fund is worth a guaranteed €7450
