Athea GAA Club Notes:
 
Condolences:
The club would like to send its condolences to the family of Johnny Matthews, who passed away last week. He was a good supporter of the club and helped out with our fundraising quizzes on many occasions and also provided spot prizes for the quizzes. May he rest in peace. The club would like to send its condolences to the Atkins family on the very sad passing of Kathleen, mother of underage players Dylan and Jamie. May she rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with both families at this sad time.
Membership: 
Our 2025 membership registration is now live.   Please see link to register with the club and purchase our club draw tickets for 2025, all players need to register ahead of the season and we would encourage everyone to become a member and purchase a ticket for our club draw as it all helps towards the running and up keep of the club and walking track.
Split the Bucket:
The last Draw took place on Monday 24th March 2025, the Lucky winner of €214 was Eileen Windle, second time lucky for Eileen, the next draw will take place on Monday 7th April 2025. Tickets available at Collins Shop, Ger Whites Bar, Brown Joes, Batts Bar, Gables Grill, O’Riordan Pharmacy, Credit Union and at bingo on a Friday evening.
2025 Con and Annie Kirby Memorial: 
We are delighted that Blastoff Ricky has qualified for the Quarter finals of the Con and Annie Kirby Memorial and will be in Trap 1 Heat 4 Saturday night.
Healthy Athea:
The annual Daffodil day was held on Friday outside Collins and the great sum of €2,140.80 was collected. The committee would like to thank everyone that supported this great cause and also to the volunteers who braved the weather for the collection.
Cul Camp:
This year’s Cul camp will take place from July 7th to 11th. This has been a great success over the years with approximately 100 kids taking part. It will be for both hurling and football again this year.
Hurling Training:
Hurling training will continue over the summer.  Wednesday nights 7pm to 8pm for U14 and U16. Sunday mornings for all ages 10 am to 11 am.
 
Football Training:
Underage football continues Friday evening at 6:30pm to 7:30pm for Nursery, U8, U10, U12.

Well done to our u16 girls who played Listowel Emmets in a challenge match Sunday evening in preparation for the start of their season next week in Athea at 7.

Allianz League Division 4 – Final
Limerick 3:11 Wexford 0:18
Well done to the Limerick Senior football team who beat Wexford in Croke Park on Saturday. Wexford had won all of their seven games at the group stage so started as favourites, however, Limerick scored goals at crucial times in the game to stay in the lead throughout. Division 3 football next year will help this team to develop further under Jimmy Lee and his backroom team.
