Athea GAA Club Notes:
U6 Mixed blitz:
Huge well done to our U6 boys and girls who took part in their first blitz in Shanagolden Monday evening. This was their very first game. They played teams from Askeaton / Ballysteen / Kilcornan, Gerald Griffins and St Senan’s. It was a great experience for them to show their skills that they practice every Friday night. Special thanks to Niamh Greaney and everyone at St Senan’s for such an enjoyable and well planned evening.

U8 Football:
Well done to the Athea U8 footballers who played a blitz in Coolcappa on Saturday hosted by St Kieran’s GAA. They played some great football in their 3 games vs St. Kierans, Granagh/Ballingarry and Monagea. Their football skills have been going from strength to strength and all the effort they have been putting in at training showed during their matches. Keep it up everyone.
Limerick U14 Development Squad:
Congratulations to Daniel Hunt who played with Limerick U14 footballers on Saturday winning the Jim Power trophy in Waterford.
U14 Girls:
Huge well done to our U14’s who had a great win over Gerald Griffins in Ballyhahill last Thursday night. With just 14 players on the night the girls played with great heart and determination. This win makes it 2 out of 3 so sets up a home quarter final pairing with St Ailbes next Wednesday evening at 6.45.

We put in a good performance in this third round game to secure our 2nd win of the campaign in Newcastle West last Saturday night. The boys dominated throughout but a lack of composure in front of goals meant it was late in the game before we put daylight between the teams with us scoring the last 4 points of the game. There was a man of the match display from Tommy Quaid who was well assisted by the influential Micheal Dalton and Eoin O’Shea. The whole team and subs played with great energy which brought great joy to our many supporters. Team Gerard Ahern, Eoin Sheahan, Calum Buckley, Tommy Quaid, Micheal Dalton, Alan Kelly, Jason Kelly, Eoin O Shea, Evan Curry, Jack O Connor, Dylan Griffin, Shane Mulvihill, Daire O Shea, Andrew O Riordan, T.J. Hunt. subs Brian O Connor, Mark Reidy, James Hunt, David O Connor, Martin Chawke, Tomás Ahern, Tadhg Ahern, Rory Cleary, Cillian O Connor and Aiden Curry. We play Feenagh/Kilmeedy in round 4 this Saturday night at 6.30pm in Tournafulla. All support would be much appreciated.
