Congratulations to Tom Flaherty & Breda Daly who were winners of €200 in the June Club Limerick Draw.

U10 Girls:
Well done to our U10’s who played Monagea at home last Wednesday night. Some great skill was on display by both teams. Thanks to Monagea for three great games.

U12 Girls:
Our U12 girls had the privilege of playing at halftime at the Limerick Ladies v Kilkenny game in Mick Neville Park. The girls had a great day supporting the girls as they now prepare for the All Ireland semi final v Fermanagh.

U13 Boys County Football Final:
Athea lost 3:05 to 7 points in the Division 3 County Final on Saturday last to a very strong Na Piarsaigh team. Athea had gone unbeaten in the league stage of the competition to get to the County Final impressing in every game. The concession of two early goals was the difference on the day, however the boys battled to the final whistle. These are a fantastic bunch of boys who are excellent to train, they will now continue to play with the U14 team in the Division 1 championship and in the U12 go-games and will have plenty of more matches over the coming months. The panel on the day was: Eoin Ahern, Jontie Wielding, Kane Brouder, Oran Hayes, Oisin McCarthy, John Ahern, Nathan Ambrose, Jack Leahy, Tadhg Hunt, Joe Scanlon, Edward Kelly, Aaron Hunt, Se Ahern, Cathal Fitzgerald, Conor Leach, Colton Brouder, Tiarnan Fitzgerald, Noah Nash, Fionn Hunt. Thanks to the parents and supporters who made the long trip to Kilbreedy to support the team and the club for providing treats after the match, no doubt this team will be lifting silverware in the near future.

U14 Hurling:
Our hurlers were out against Croom Sunday morning in Athea and had a great win. There was some fantastic hurling through the field with special mention to Daniel Hunt who scored a very impressive 1-04 and Se Ahern who won some great ball and played some brilliant hurling. This was three wins from three in the league and this team is getting stronger with each match. We would like to wish Cathal Fitzgerald a speedy recovery after suffering an injury during the match. Final score 2:11 to 1:04. Next match away to St Kierans Thursday 1st August.

U16 Girls Championship:
Round 1
Athea 3.14 Gerald Griffins 3.3
Well done to our U16s who got a good start to this year’s championship with a great win. Although Gerald Griffins were missing a number of players they continued to work hard till the final whistle. Their next game is at home Monday 15th July.

All Ireland U16 Girls Final:
Huge well done to Limerick U16’s who had a comprehensive win over Leitrim in the All Ireland semi final last Thursday. Adult Ladies League:
Round 6 Division 2
In the final round of league Athea have received a walk over from St Bridget’s.

Junior Men:
Athea 0-7 Kilteely/Dromkeen 1-7
We lost the first round of the County Premier Junior Football Championship on Thursday night last at windswept Ballyagran. We played against the wind and rain in the first half and trailed at half time 1-06 to 0-01. We had plenty of possession in this half but didn’t use it well. We didn’t use the elements well in the second half, and it was late in the game when we started to close the gap on our opponents. The team didn’t play to their potential but we hope for a better performance when we play Mungret in round 2 this Saturday at 3pm in Foynes. Tickets must be purchased in advance – https://limerickgaa.ie/buy-club-championship-tickets/. Many thanks to the large number of Athea supporters who attended the opening game of the championship.
