Athea GAA Club Notes:

Athea V Drom/Broadford 2003 County Senior Football Final Charity Replay:
Easter season is now behind us, Athea Drama Group have completed their run of ‘Turning Mammy’, so the next big event to hit our parish will be the Athea V Drom/Broadford County Final Replay on Saturday April 13th in aid of Carol Lison O’Connor & Family. A fun filled day is guaranteed, with some surprises thrown into the mix of events. There will be more details in the coming days. We are currently looking for volunteers to aid us with stewarding on the day. If interested in helping out, please contact John Hunt on 087 7875378.

U17 Mens Football League:
Gerald Griffin’s Glin Athea will play Fr Caseys on Wednesday April 3rd in Abbeyfeale at 6.30pm in round 1 of the league.

Ladies Minor league semi final:
Well done to our minors when they played Oola in the league semi final in Athea . It ended 2.6 to 1.11 in favour of Oola but our girls can be so proud of their performance.

County teams:
Well done to Grace Hunt, Maeve Murphy and Geraldine Carmody who represented the club at U16 level V Cork last weekend. They will contest the Munster final V Clare in a few weeks.

GMAO:
GMAO are back training on Mondays in the GAA field from 7.30 – 8.30. Remember this is a non competitive group, where it doesn’t matter what your level of fitness is or whether you have played football or not before, we meet up for fun, laughter and making new friendships.

Athea Ladies Team Training:
Our Adult Team return to the field this Thursday night new members are always welcome.

Adult League Division 2:
Athea V Knockainey In Knockainey at 6 pm Sunday 7th April.

Clothes Collection:
Our next clothes collection will be Monday 13th May. Start that spring clear early. Do not discard any clothing material in household waste. Drop them up to the field. Funds generated from this collection goes to buying new equipment for the season ahead.

2024 Membership:
All players, coaches, mentors and committee members need to be registered before participating in training/matches for the upcoming year. Players must be covered by the Player Injury Sport fund, in the event of any injuries whilst representing the club. Guardians must ensure that all Youth players are registered.

Split the Bucket:
Congratulations to Leona Wall who was last week’s winner of Split the Bucket, going home with the grand total of €382. The next draw will take place on Monday April 8th. Envelopes can be purchased at Dick Whites, Collins Shop, O’ Riordan’s Pharmacy, Athea Credit Union, Brown Joes, Batts,Bingo at Con Colbert Hall on Friday nights, Chinese Takeaway, Gables Grill and during events at Pairc na nGael. Thanks to everyone for your continued support.

CPR AED Training for Teens:
The CPR Aed Training for Teens has been arranged for the following dates:
Thursday 4th April
Thursday 11th April
Thursday 18th April
18.00 – 21.30 each night
Venue: Con Colbert Memorial Hall
12 places available for each night, aimed at teens aged 14 years upwards. Adults are also welcome so if anyone would like to attend please encourage them to include their names. A mix of teens and adults to attend each of the 4 nights please as requested by Instructors. It is very important that those who confirm their attendance turn up for the training on the night. If for any reason someone needs to cancel please ensure we are made aware of it so the place can be offered to someone else.If you are interested please contact Helen Brosnan on 087 6103840
