ATHEA GAA CLUB NOTES
Athea GAA
We would like to welcome Eamon (Dicky) Dalton on board as he joins Athea GAA as a grounds maintenance worker under the RSS Scheme. Thanks to West Limerick Resources for granting this placement. Dicky will work with BIlly McKenna to keep our grounds in top condition.
Last week we submitted a funding application to Limerick City & County Council to upgrade the lighting in our carpark to make the facility safer for all users. We hope for a positive outcome. A reminder to the ‘last person out’ of the car park to please close the gates.
We are also awaiting public lighting to be erected by Limerick City & County Council to illuminate the footpath leading up to the GAA Grounds in the coming months. Thanks to Councillor Francis Foley for securing this for the parish.
The date for our next outdoor Club Draw will be announced next week. Again we will be going live on facebook for this draw, so make sure to tune in!
It is great to see the walking track being well utilised in the last number of weeks. It’s popularity continues to grow. We will be looking towards improving the surface of track in the coming months.
Work is also ongoing behind the scenes to develop our walking track into ‘a walk & talk track’. Some positive mental health messages will be erected around the track and also a ‘sit and chat here’ bench will be erected. As we enter another lockdown, the promotion of positive mental health in our community is as important as ever.
We would like to offer our sympathies to the Casey family on the recent death of Joan Boylan RIP. May the light of heaven shine upon her.
