Shannon Gaels Athea U21 Mens:
Kildimo Pallaskenry 1:08 Shannon Gaels Athea 2:07
After receiving a Walkover in our first match a week earlier we made the journey to Pallaskenry to play the second round of the U21A Championship on Saturday. The pitch was soft but the weather on the day was good making for what was a very competitive game of football.
The hosts got off to an early start registering two early points. The team fought back and turned the tide with two quick goals coming from long balls in. Donagh McEnery reacted quickest to a ball rebounding off the post from a Zach Behan shot to hit the net. Shortly afterwards James Broderick scrambled the ball to the net after another long ball attack. We built the lead further with points from Andrew O Riordan, Evan Curry and James Hunt going into the break 2-4 to 5 points up with all of our scores coming from play.
The second half was a different game with KP upping the intensity. Scores were hard to come by with TJ Hunt kicking two frees and Cormac Thompson tacking on one from play. However the team held out at the back and with 5 minutes the play were still 5 points to the good until K/P were awarded a penalty after a long ball into the box. They scored leaving just 2 points in it but the boys battled hard till the end and came away with a 2 point win 2-7 to 1-8. Well done to the lads and best of luck in their next match where they face Oola away.
