Club Development Draw
Just a few days left to purchase your ticket for the Athea GAA Club Draw 2022.
Our Club has set ourselves an ambitious plan to achieve the following over the coming months –
1. Drainage and sand carpet of Lower and Upper Training areas
2. Tarmacadam resurfacing of Carpark
3. Installation of Sound System around our Walk & Talk Track.
This will only be possible if we raise sufficient funds through our Club Development Draw to part fund these projects. We have listened to you, the public, and taken on board feedback received on developments required to improve user experience. Tickets are priced at just €50, gaining access to 5 draws over 5 months with a total prize fund of €7,200.
If you would like to be training on a smooth sand carpet pitch, parking your car in a lined, high-quality surface, or running the track to the sound of ABBA, then please do consider supporting our annual fundraiser. Tickets can be purchased now through Clubforce – https://member.clubforce.com/memberships_cart_m.asp.
Clubforce® is the only all-in-one sports club management platform that allows club volunteers to efficiently manage all aspects of their club.

U7 Football Blitz
Our U7s travelled to Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale on Saturday morning last on a lovely sunny day and played several matches against various different clubs in the regional West Limerick blitz. All players got a chance to show off their football skills and a great morning was had by all. Well done Coaches, Players and Parents
Best of luck to our U8s who play Monagea in a blitz in Monagea on Wednesday night.
U9 Football Blitz
Our U9 team played in the Limerick Regional Blitz in Askeaton on Friday evening on a glorious evening for football, we had 14 players and played 4 great games against, St. Senans, St. Kierans, Askeaton/Ballysteen and Fr. Caseys. These players are improving with every game and are great to train every Friday evening, thanks to players, coaches and parents.
We started back the U11 league on Tuesday last after the Summer break against a strong Cappagh/Rathkeale team. We had 19 players on the evening and all played extremely well attacking freely and defending fearlessly with some excellent points being kicked and great skill levels on display. The panel for the evening was; Lily Carmody, Nathan Ambrose, Aaron Hunt, Se Ahern, Jack Leahy, Eoin Ahern, Tadhg Hunt, Rory Carmody, Jontie Weiling, Oran Hayes, Shane Ahern, Cathal Fitzgerald, Shauna Collins, Loren Healy, Aine Ahern, Anna Murphy, Liam Og Reidy, Tiarnan Fitzgerald, Oisin McCarthy. Special Thanks to our own “in-house” referee Derek Byrne who always makes himself available to referee these home matches and teaches the kids the rules of the games.
Well done to our U12 girls who played so well against Glin on Monday night. They have improved week in week out.
We played our last game in the league on Thursday evening last in Athea against Claughaun. We started slowly and led at half-time 4point to 1 but upped our performance in the second half with goals from Tadhg Hunt, Conor Fennelly and Patrick Healy to win out on a score line of 3:06 to 1point after playing brilliant attacking football in the second half. Mark Reidy has done a fantastic Job with this team who have improved throughout the year and with only 3 players over age for next year the future is promising: Panel for the match was: Cathal Fitzgerald, Daniel Leahy, Jack Leahy, Jamie Brosnan, Tony Ambrose, Mark Collins, Mark Ahern, Daniel Hunt, Daniel Broderick, Tadhg Hunt, Conor Fennelly, Arron Hunt, Patrick Healy, Arron Broderick, Nathan Ambrose, Tom Mullane, Shane Ahern. We are currently taking part in the Shannon Gaels Tournament with Moyvane, St. Senans, Cappagh/Rathkeale and Shannon Gaels; Our next match is Wednesday 31st at 6:30 in Ballyhahill against St. Senans.
Best of luck to our U14s who play Pallagreen in the county semi final in Athea Friday 2nd September at 7 pm
