Askeaton/Ballysteen/Kilcornan GAA Club Notes:

Mackey Cup 2025:
Well done to our three Mackey Cup players Danny Anglim, Darragh Moran and Michael O’Shaughnessy who all played their part in a great effort by this years West team who fell to an agonising 3 point defeat to the City in this years Mackey Cup Final.
After a slow start in their semi final versus the South the West took over in the second half helped by Darraghs excellent puckouts, Danny’s penetrating solo runs from half forward and some great deliveries from Michael to run out 1-09 to 0-03 winners. After a great effort in the final a last puck of the game free from the West cannoned off the post to hand the City the prestigious Mackey Cup.
Overall a great experience for our three young hurlers and testament to the work our club coaches have put in to them from an early age.
Junior B Hurling League:
ABK 0-17 Crecora/Manister 1-07
Our Junior B hurlers remain unbeaten after round 3 of the West League following a 7 point defeat of Crecora Manister in Askeaton on Sunday night.
It took us a while to settle and after we hit a few wides Thomas Lyng struck our first 4 points of the evening as we played in to the town goal with the wind at our backs. Further points from Colm O’Connell and Jamie Dolan saw us head in at half time leading 0-9 to 0-4.
We started the second half well and built up a 6 point lead with ten minutes to go, 13pt to 7pt. At this stage Crecora scored the only goal of game, but our boys gathered themselves and went on to score 4 further points from Zach Birdthistle, Thomas Lyng and Colm O’Connell to finish out winners 0-17 to 1-07. Overall a good team performance with Adam O’ Sullivan and Conor McNamara particularly impressive in defence.
