AHANE GAA CLUB NOTES

Lisnagry NS – County Cumann na mBunscol Champions

There were great scenes of celebrations in Mick Neville Park last week as Lisnagry National School boys team were crowned Cumann na mBunscol county football champions.

Following on from their win over Doon CBS in the East Final on Monday 11th in the Gaelic Grounds, the boys travelled to Rathkeale to take part in the County series.

The boys played a strong Kilmallock NS team in the Semi-Final and came out on top after a hard fought and spirited team performance to claim a four point win and reach the County Final.

The Final saw the team take on near neighbours Monaleen NS. There was no way the Lisnagry boys were going to leave this one behind and after a fantastic display with the players showing their best football of the campaign, they were crowned champions – scoring 5-4 and keeping Monaleen scoreless in the second half.

Huge credit goes to Mr. Feeney and Mr. Raferty for their wonderful efforts in ensuring the team were so well prepared for the big day and a big THANK YOU to all parents and supporters who travelled to roar on the boys in Rathkeale. Thanks also to Linda for providing much needed snacks, fruit and refreshments to the players.

Well done from all in Ahane GAA Club – we are very proud of you all.

Sarsfield Cup football teams

Well done to our Ahane GAA Bord na nOg football players on their selection for the East Limerick Sarsfield Cup school squad. Good luck to John, Anton, Conor, Ronan, Sean, Dara and Jack and all the best to all of the East Football team and mentors in the upcoming divisional games

U10/11 Hurlers

Ahane Bord na nOg would like to record our sincere thanks to the parent / family who gave a private donation to the club to facilitate the purchase of wall ball sliotars for the underage teams. The U10/11 players were delighted to receive their sliotars on Friday night last from mentors Finbar, Ollie and John as they wrapped up their end of season training. We hope that all underage players get to use the sliotars at the fantastic wall ball in Mackey Park over the winter months.

Over 35’s Hurling

24 players togged for the most recent instalment of over 35s hurling last Saturday in UL which lead to another great hour of hurling. We again had some great passages of hurling and scores throughout from both sides where everyone, no matter how long out of the game, found the eye coming back with plenty of opportunity to get on the ball during the course of the game.

The next game is Saturday next, 23th of November in at our usual location in UL Astroturf (Maguire’s field) from 4-5pm
