AHANE GAA CLUB NOTES
Ahane OsKaRs Night
And just like that it’s all over! A massive thank you to everyone who made our ‘Night at the OsKaRs’ possible on Saturday last – and what a fantastically enjoyable evening it turned out to be. With the red carpet rolled out and glitz and glammer in abundance, the huge crowd in attendance in the South Court Hotel certainly had a night to remember!
To our four Judges – Emma Foote, Tom Morrissey, Niamh Mulcahy and Donn O’Sullivan, thank you all so much for coming on board and adding hugely to the occasion. We were so delighted to have you there on the big night and you all did an amazing job!
Thank you to all our sponsors, from our movie sponsors, to our OsKaRs sponsors, to those who took an advert in our programme, we appreciate your generosity and your support enormously.
To all the helpers on the night, from handing out programmes, showing people to their seats, handing out Prosecco, and manning the buckets, thank you, again the night wouldn’t have been such a success without you. Thank you to all the businesses and people who donated to our raffle – we had absolutely fantastic prizes to be won on the night and we appreciate your kindness and generosity.
To each and every one of you who supported us, through the cast fundraisers, through buying a ticket, through being there on the night, we want to say a huge thank you from the bottom of our hearts, we are so lucky to have such a supportive community around the Ahane club.
But the last few thank-you’s go to the people on the ground, the 70 cast members, the extras, the people who provided the props, costumes, and their homes as locations! Genuinely if this whole OsKaRs process has shown anything it’s shown what a fantastic bunch of people we have not only in the club but in the community as a whole, people were so kind with offering to help in whatever way they could and this whole process has bought people closer, has created new friendships and has been so much fun. Unless you were involved in a cast you will never know the time and effort that all seven of our casts put in, and the effort and dedication showed on the big screen last night! A massive well done to each and every one of the cast members who were absolutely fantastic throughout!
Finally, none of this would have happened without the hard working committee who for the last few months have been working tirelessly to ensure that last night was a success . A special mention to Carol Condon, who has literally given all her time to our ‘Night at the OsKaRs’ to make sure it was the best night it could be. The work that Carol does behind the scenes is incredible and there won’t ever be enough words to tell her how much we appreciate her and all she does.
Of course the main aim of this great night was to raise funds to complete the “wall-ball” surface area with Astro-turf. The completion of this will be a huge amenity for the club and a massive asset for kids and adults alike for many years to come.

Over 35’s Hurling
Well done to all to attended for the game on Saturday last – it was great to see a few new players take to the field again. We managed to play a highly enjoyable game which went down to the wire, with scores separated by the minimum at the end of the 3rd 15 minute “half.”
We will resume playing on Saturday next, 9th of November in UL Astroturf (Maguire’s field) from 4-5pm. If you haven’t joined up yet and are keen on playing at some stage over the next few weeks, please keep an eye on our social media forums for updates and contact details to in order to get involved.
