Ahane GAA Club Notes:
Junior A Football:
Our Junior A Footballers created their own moment of magic on Thursday in Doon as they came out as one point victory over Camogue Rovers in the Junior A Football County Final. In a top class game of football it was end to end throughout. Ahane walked into the dressing room at half time five points up, but Camogue had left a lot of scores behind them. The second half got underway and again it was end to end but Camogue got their goal which gave them a boost and then they picked the points off until it was level pegging as the game ticked over into injury time. The nerves were palpable in the stands as both sets of supporters willed their team to score and get them over the line. However, it was the Ahane supporters that got their wish as Gavin Rowsome scored a beauty of a point five minutes into injury time. The crowd went wild! It was then the longest three minutes of our lives as we continued to try and keep Camogue as bay and patiently wait for the referee to blow the full time whistle. The elation when the whistle did go was on another level from the Ahane crowd as they stormed the field and congratulated the fantastic players were left it all out there! A fantastic day for our club and a day that we will be celebrating long into the future!
