Ahane GAA Club Notes:

Brian Butler Cup:
Our Juniors played Cappamore in the Quarter Final of the Brian Butler Cup on Tuesday evening in Mackey Park. After a hectic game that saw the teams trade points back and forth throughout both halves, it was a huge solo effort from Peter O’Grady that eventually sealed our win by the narrowest of margins, which set us up to face Caherline on Sunday 23rd June in Cappamore. Unfortunately, due to injuries and players not being available we had to give Caherline a walkover.

Féile Hurling:
We won our first game against Oulart The Ballagh, which gave us a great start as we headed into our game with John Lockes. Where we came away with a two point win, meaning if we got a win from our third game we would top the group. We played Faythe Harriers in our last game and we were down by a goal at half time playing against a strong breeze. The lads gave it everything in the second half but we came away on the wrong side of the result as we lost the game 1-06 to 3-02. We finished second in the group and qualified for the quarter final where we faced Middleton. We lost out to Middleton in the Quarter Final and that is where our Féile campaign came to an end. We are unbelievably proud of the lads who gave it absolutely everything all day! Also, a big thanks to our own two home grown heroes Tom & Dan and to The 2 Johnnies for their messages of support our four teams heading to Feile!
An unbelievable achievement for our club!
