Ahane GAA Club Notes:
U21 Hurling Championship:
On a wet and cold Thursday night we headed to Doon to play Mungret St Pauls, hoping to continue our winning streak after a convincing win over Newcastle West in our opening round. Mungret started the stronger and were the dominate team throughout. Mungret got the first three scores before Kevin put a 65b over the bar. Mungret scored 1-03 on the bounce after Kevin’s point before we scored again in the fourteenth minute through a Kevin Morrissey free. Mark Donnellan scored a point, but Mungret scored two more and we struggled to find our feet in the game. The Mungret St Pauls keeper also had a fantastic game and made some great saves from us. We did get a close range free after Peter Donhooe was fouled. Kevin stepped up and buried the ball into the back of the net and we closed the gap to six points. Mungret responded well with two more points before Gavin Rowsome got on the score sheet. Mungret got the last two points of the half and as half time it was Ahane 1-04 Mungret St Pauls 1-13.
We started the second half brightly with two quick points from Jack Butler and David Carr who got two stunning points from play. Unfortunately, this was our last score of the game as Mungret took off and scored points from play and from frees. Mungret scored their second goal from play seven minutes into the second half. The game ended on a score line of Ahane 1-06 Mungret St Pauls 2-23.
Fixture:
We play Ballybrown on Friday 17th November at 8pm in UL.
