Ahane GAA Club Notes:
All Stars:
Huge congratulations to Dan and Tom who have both been nominated for All Stars for 2023
We are very proud of them both! Another fantastic year for them in the green jersey.
Junior A Hurling:
Thursday evening saw us head to Adare to play Killeedy in the Junior A Hurling Championship. Johnny Meskell and David Carr started the scoring to put us 3 points to 1 ahead. Johnny pointed another free to stretch the lead to 4 points to 1 before Killeedy started to take on their shots and soon had scored five unanswered points. Craig O’Connell got a great point from the middle of the field but we just couldn’t get a hold on the game. Killeedy scored six more points before half time to leave it as Ahane 0-05 Killeedy 0-12 at half time. Johnny got our first score in the second half from a free before Killeedy popped over a few more points. Craig got another point but the gap was still six points. Peter Donohoe brought it back to five points. Killeedy scored four points on the hop to make it a nine point game. Colm Slattery fired over a free but Killeedy then scored a goal. Full time Ahane 0-10 Killeedy 1-18.
U7 Football:
Our U7 footballers and hurlers travelled to Dolla to take on the Silvermines in the in our end of year Trip to Tipp Blitz. Although the weather was against them, it did not dampen their spirits. They put on a fantastic display of the skills they have been practising all year, despite the wet conditions. They stopped in Burger King on the way home for some post-match analysis, and each player was presented with a medal and certificate by Claire , one of the hurling coaches. We couldn’t be prouder of this group of players for all their hard work and dedication over the year. A big thank you to Silvermines for hosting us this morning to all the parents for their support over the season and to all the mentors for their hard work.
