Ahane GAA Club Notes:

Junior A County Football Championship:
We headed to Fedamore to play Banogue on Sunday afternoon where we played with a very strong wind in the first half and scored three quick goals, two from Mark Donnellan and one from Ruairi Cronin along with a number of well take points. Ten minutes before half time Ciaran Barry made his way up from wing back and scored our fourth goal of the half. Half time Ahane 4-09 Banogue 0-02. The second half continued along the same path as Ruairi scored his second and our fifth. Mark slotted over some more points and Ronan Fox got his name on the score sheet too. Banogue scored three points of their own all from play. The substitutes that came on played their part was Peter Donohoe scored a point and then John Donohoe scored our sixth goal of the game in the last few minutes of the game. Banogue hit four points on the bounce in the final few minutes but we ran out convincing winners on a score line of Ahane 6-12 Banogue 0-08.

U8 Hurling:
Huge thanks to the u8 hurlers from Monaleen, Murroe Boher & Mungret for coming to Ahane on Saturday afternoon. Each team played 5 very competitive games which were played in great spirits with super skills & great heart on show. We were lucky with the weather & the pitch was in excellent condition. Well done to all of our boys for their mighty efforts. We fielded 4 teams & it was a first ever hurling blitz for 3 of our lads. They did us all proud. Thanks to all the coaches, to the parents for bringing & supporting the lads and for collecting the cones & poles afterwards! Teamwork on & off the field!

U9 Football:
Well done to our U9 footballers who played great games against Pallasgreen on Friday evening. Thanks to all the children and parents for braving the conditions.

U10 Hurling:
Well done to our u10s who travelled to Knockainey for a blitz on Thursday. Great performances from them all!

U14 Limerick Football:
Ahane’s Kevin McNamara and Cian Cronin represented Limerick U14 footballers on Saturday the 12th August in the Jim Power memorial tournament in two locations in Waterford. They lost to a Waterford team, beat an Offaly team helped by a contribution of 1-1 from Cian Cronin and narrowly lost a final to a Wicklow team by a last minute point. Kevin was nominated captain for the final which is a great honor and the club is very proud of them both.

U15 Limerick Football:
Congratulations to the Limerick u15 footballers and Ahane’s Shane Gill on winning the Dermot Earley Shield on Saturday v Wicklow.
It was a busy day for the team they played Galway in Liam Mellowes at 10.30am before playing Wicklow 2pm Saturday afternoon in Monaleen.
