AHANE GAA CLUB NOTES

Seachtain na Gaeilge

We finished up our Seachtain na Gaeilge celebrations this week with our fitness class with BEO Fitness from Dingle on Tuesday which was enjoyed by all in attendance and then on St Patrick’s Day we had our virtual parade which consisted of clips from all over our community and further afield. We have a seriously talented community! You can watch the video here: https://youtu.be/u36VwlqRtjY Huge thank you to our Irish Officer Denis Kelly who has put in a massive amount of work, time and energy over the last few weeks to organise all the activities for Seachtain na Gaeilge and to ensure they all ran smoothly. He made both Seachtain na Gaeilge and St Patrick’s Day very enjoyable for people from their homes.

Sponsors

Huge thank you once again to all our sponsors for their continued support, we would not be able to keep the club running without you! You will find all our sponsors and all their information on all our social media pages.

Last Man Standing

This week saw 23 people being knocked out meaning we now have 68 left in the competition! The most popular picks for week 5 were Leicester, Man City and Chelsea! Please take note that there will be a 2 week break now as there are no fixtures and it will return starting April 2nd!

Huge thanks to all who have gotten involved and all who helped recruit people for the competition!

Munster Hurling Cup

In fantastic news this week, Munster Council made the decision to call the Munster Hurling Cup after our own Mick Mackey! During Mackey’s career he won five Munster titles and three All Ireland titles while he won a Munster title as manager in 1955. Mick Mackey is a legend here in Ahane, with many of his relatives still involved in Ahane GAA, Camogie and LGFA. We are so proud that his name has been given to the Munster Cup.

Cash for Clobber

We are still collecting for our cash for clobber, we accept unwanted/unused clothes, belts, handbags, and shoes (in pairs only). You can drop your bags down to the dressing room outside the changing room from 10-11am on Saturdays. Thanks to all those who have already dropped down their bags, we appreciate your support!
