AHANE
Senior Hurling Co Championship
In an absolute classic that had it all, we drew with Na Piarsaigh after a titanic battle between the two sides. We played some beautiful hurling and got some beauties of scores. Tom scored 1-13, the goal was from a penalty, he got six from frees and seven from play. Colum Carroll had a great game and scored three points, Niall Moran scored one, Ciarán Barry scored three points and possibly the point of the game, Mark Donnellan got in on the action too with a lovely point, Paddy Morrissey scored a point from play. The game ended on a score line of Ahane 1-22 Na Piarsaigh 1-22. This means we are staying up Senior A for 2023
Junior A Hurling Co Championship
Peafield was the venue for our game v St Patrick’s, and it was every bit as tough and physical as we had expected. Gearoid Hegarty led the way for St Pat’s, and they went into the lead. We scored points from Tom Doheny, Shane O’Grady, Kevin Morrissey, and Peter O’Grady. The score at half time was Ahane 0-05 St Patrick’s 1-10. We started the second half brighter as we scored two goals, one from Andrew Minehan and one from Liam O’Mara. We bought it back to a one-point game, but St Pat’s never let us get any closer. We went down to 14 men as Mark Foley received a second yellow card. St Pat’s pushed on and score some great points along with a Shane Cross goal. Full time Ahane 2-08 St Patrick’s 2-19.
