Football:
Congrats to our Senior Footballers & Management with their win in the County Championship last Sunday against Ballysteen in the Bog Garden. The game finished 1-9 to 0-8 placing them into the County Semi final, yet TBC. We wish them the very best in their preparation.
Our Junior Footballers played on Sunday against Feenagh/Kilmeedy in Ballingarry in the Woodlands House Hotel County Junior A Football Championship Quarter Final. F/K were the first to score from play in the 3rd minute and Adare opened their scores in the 10th minute from a free by Sian Hickey. Adare then took the lead with a score from play by Billy Supple, which lasted ten minutes until F/K measured up a nice score from play. Both teams exchanged scores in the second quarter and just before half time Adare took the lead with a score from a free by Michael Southgate, 0-5 to 0-4 at the break. In the second half F/K levelled with a point from play from the restart and another eleven minutes in, to go one up. They widened the gap three minutes later with another score from play to make it 5 points to 7 at the water break. Adare were now hungry for goal in the final quarter but F/K managed to keep their first number of attacks out. F/K popped another over the Adare crossbar making a goal now the difference between both sides. Adare were surely going to crack the F/K defence at some stage and in the late stages of the quarter they managed a point from a free by Sian Hickey, their first score of the second half. Into injury time, making the most of what was left they searched for goal but were denied by F/K who managed to widen the gap back to a goal once more with a point from play. Full-time Adare 0-6 F/K 0-9.
