Bord na nÓg have seen record numbers at training since we returned to the pitch with over 200 boys registered this year. Thanks to all the parents who have used Foireann and registered their boys and thanks in particular to Sheila Gleeson for a seamless roll out of the new online system.
There is a real focus this year on skills and strength and conditioning however the most important thing is that the boys are having fun and it has been heartening over the last two weeks to see the boys back and enjoying playing hurling and football, after all that is the most important thing. We would also like to welcome u/17’s to Bord na nÓg this year, it is great to have you all on board.
All new players are welcome any time to Bord na nÓg. Please feel free to just come down.
We are delighted to have 31 boys in our u/6s (nursery) and they have been focusing on ground striking, catching, and dribbling with the ball. Also, these boys have been having good fun playing games at every session and they seem to be really enjoying that. Super job u/6’s.
Our u/7s Hurling training continued Friday evening in the Manor field Astro pitch. There was a great turn out again on the evening with 18 boys attending. A great hour of training took place as these talented bunch of lads continue to learn the basic skills of the game and have great fun while doing so. Well done to all boys. U7 Hurling training will continue every Friday evening from 6-7pm.
We are thrilled to have our u/11’s back on the hurling field after the long lockdown. We have had four sessions so far and we’ve had at least 22 boys each night. It was super to see the group again and the coaches are very impressed with everyone, it was clear to see that the lads were practicing all during the enforced break. U11 hurling training is on Mondays at 6pm and Fridays at 7pm at the Manor Fields astro pitch.
We have been having 33 u/13’s at training since we returned to the pitch. We have seen a notable difference in the boys and it’s clear that they were working hard during lockdown 3 on their skills and fitness. The boys have been focussed on first touch but over all we have been easing them back doing some drills to set the foundation for the year ahead.
Our u/17s have been back training twice a week and numbers are good despite everyone being so busy. Lots of enthusiasm from the lads and looking forward to getting back to full contact next week. Trying to ease the lads back into it to avoid injury.
