Limerick Allianz Hurling League Roinn Champions 2019
A very successful start to 2019 as All Ireland Champions, with a good run in the Allianz Hurling League,wins over Wesfxord, Tipperary and Kilkenny were recorded before losing to Cork, a draw with Clare on a snowy day in Ennis gave Limerick a place in the Quarter Final, where once victory was achieved
over Laois in O’Moore Park, Portlaoise on Saturday 9th. March.and a place in the Semi Final with Dublin.
Nowlan Park Kilkenny was the venue on Sunday 24th. March for both Semi Finals, Limerick played Dublin in the opening game and reached Allianz Hurling League Final with a 1.19 to 1.16 win while Waterford overcame Galway to reach the final.
The All Munster, Allianz Hurling League Roinn 1 Final was the opening game in Croke Park on Sunday 31st. March with Kerry and Mayo playing in the Football Final.
Limerick were crowned Champions for the first time since 1997, with a very impressive 1.24 to 0.18 win in a game where were on top through, highlighted by a great goal from Aaron Gillane in the opening to give his side an lead 1.12 to 0.10.
There was great celebration among the huge Limerick support as team Captain Declan Hannon was presented with the Dr. Croke Cup by John Horan, Uachtarain CLG
It was Limerick’s 12th. League success and they were now All Ireland and League Champions simultaneously for the first time since 1937.
