Junior C Hurling. Well done to our Junior hurlers who had a fantastic win in the first round of the Junior C Hurling Championship against Crecora in Ballybricken on Monday night on a fine evening for hurling. The lads got off to a great start early on with goals from. Aaron Murphy & Kieran Glynn to give us a 7 point lead. Crecora fought back just before halftime with a goal to leave it at 2.08 to 1.07 at the break. A quick start from Crecora had them level within a few mins but the lads rallied to take the lead again. Scores were tit for tat but a storming last ten mins saw the lads get a 2.17 to 2.12 victory. Great performances from all the lads & with loads of experience on the team it bodes well for the rest of the championship. Well done to players & management. Team: James Daly, John O’Donoghue, Paudie Reale, Peter Sheeran, Thomas Ryan(C), Niall Carmody, John Barry, Patrick Jones, Aaron Murphy, Ken O Loughlin, Liam O Donnell, Jason Cassidy, Liam Kelly, Kieran Glynn, James Hanly. Subs Used: Darragh O Sullivan, Ger Mcinerney, Mike Hayes, Mike O Leary, Éamonn Cooke. Management: Mike O Connor, Gerry Ryan, Paudie Reale & James Daly.
Intermediate Hurling. Well done to our Intermediate hurlers who had a fantastic win over Kilmallock in the championship in Kilbreedy on saturday evening. In what has been a very difficult campaign so far no one gave the lads much of a chance after a heavy defeat the week previously. The lads put in a trojan effort in what was our best performance of the year by a long way. A blistering start had 2 points on the board quickly before a fantastic goal from Mickey Bob Ryan gave us a great platform from the which the lads never looked back with a lead of 1.14 to 1.10 at halftime. A quick start to the 2nd half had the lads go 6 points up before a top corner bullet from Harry Fox gave us a 9 point lead midway through the half. Some great points were scored from all angles and with brilliant displays from all over the field and so many lads chipped in with vital scores, blocks, hooks and saves to gave us a victory of 2.24 to 2.12. Fair play to everyone of ye. Team: Lorcan Costelloe, John Riordan, Mark Deegan, Ross Winship, Killian Real, Oisín O Grady, Darragh O Suillivan, Tadgh Leddin, Callum Winship, Harry Fox, Conor O’Grady, Mickey Bob Ryan, Michael Whelan, Joe Fogarty, Keith O Connor.
