Fifth Flanagan Cup Win for Granagh/Ballingarry
West Junior B Hurling League Final:
Granagh/Ballingarry 3-10 Kildimo/Pallaskenry 0-17
Granagh/Ballingarry with a strong all-round team performance took their fifth West Junior B Hurling League title and the Seamus Flanagan Cup a first since defeating Askeaton by a point 1-11 to 0-13 in the 2016 decider at St. Kieran’s GAA Grounds in Coolcappa on Saturday 11th June with a hard fought two point 3-10 to 0-17 victory over unlucky Kildimo/Pallaskenry in ideal conditions at Adare on Tuesday 13th June.
The Adare officials had their pitch in top condition for this West B final played in front of a good crowd who gave great support to their teams with Billy Philips of Tornafulla in charge. It was a full-blooded contest and gave the crowd plenty of exciting hurling to savour with the issue in doubt right up to the final whistle. Kildimo/Pallaskenry no.15 Seán Hartigan opened the scoring with a well taken point from open play inside the opening minute before Granagh/Ballingarry no.14 John O’Grady with an opportunist goal to leave the black and greens two ahead 1-0 to 0-1 on two minutes. Then white flags were traded from open play by Brian Sheehy on 4 minutes and Conor McMahon on 6 minutes before a pair of white flags courtesy of Brian Sheehy on 7 minutes and Padraig mcKenna a minute later to extend the advantage to three 1-3 to 0-2 on 8 minutes. Then white flags were traded from open play by Brian Howard on 9 minutes and Ronan Mullane on 10 minutes before four white flags in as many minutes for Kildimo-Pallaskenry through Adam Butler (free), Ruarí Maher, Conor McMahon and Dylan Corrigan (play), to level the score Granagh/Ballingarry 1-4 Kildimo/Pallaskenry 0-7 on 14 minutes. Then white flags were traded by Colm Noonan from a placed ball on 15 minutes and Sean Hartigan from green play on 20 and 22 minutes and Adam Butler from placed ball on 24 and 27 minutes to leave the blue and whites four ahead 0-12 to 1-5. A couple of wides were exchanged before Colm Noonan of Granagh/Ballingarry split the uprights from a placed ball on 30minutes to reduce the deficit to three, Kildimo/Pallaskenry 0-12 Granagh/Ballingarry 1-6 at the interval. Granagh/Ballingarry substitute Jim O’Keeffe from open play and Seán Hartigan from a placed ball traded white flags from placed balls by Granagh/Ballingarry no. 11 Colm Noonan on 35 and 37 minutes reduced the deficit to one 0-13 to 1-9. A couple of wides were exchanged before Seán Hartigan split the uprights from a placed ball to increase the Kildimo/Pallaskenry boys’ advantage to two 0-14 to 1-9 on 40 minutes. Both sides were guilty of inaccurate striking in the next six minutes before Granagh/Ballingarry were awarded a free in front of goal which substitute Owen Lynch send to the back of the Kildimo/Pallaskenry net to the boys from Knockfierna one ahead 2-9 to 0-14 on 47 minutes. A couple of wides were exchanged before Sean Hartigan landed his fifth white flags from open play for Kildimo/Pallaskenry to level the score at Granagh/Ballingarry 2-9 Kildimo/Pallaskenry 0-5 on 51 minutes. Then after five minutes of scoreless play Granagh/Ballingarry no.11 Denis Noonan landed his fifth white flag from a placed ball on 57 minutes cancelled out from open play by Conor McMahon a minute later to level the score again Granagh/Ballingarry 2-10 Kildimo/Pallaskenry 0-16 on 58 minutes. Then the game turned nicely in favour of Granagh/Ballingarry when a line ball cut in by substitute Richie O’Keeffe was finished past Kildimo/*Pallaskenry keeper James Mason do put the boys in black and green three ahead 3-10 to 0-16 on 60 minutes. A couple of wides were exchanged before Ruairí Maher of Kildimo/Pallaskenry split the uprights following a good solo run to reduce the deficit to two on 62 minutes. The final few minutes of injury time were very exciting as the Kildimo/Pallaskenry boys created a cople of scoring chances which they failed to convert to leave Granagh/Ballingarry at the final whistle if only just two point 3-10 to 0-17 winners of their fifth West Junior B Hurling league title a first since 2016 and the Seamus Flanagan Prepetual Cup Granagh/Ballingarry scored 3-5 from play and 0-5 from frees.

Presentation
After the game West Board Treasurer Jim Enright congratulated Granagh/Ballingarry on a winning their fifth West Limerick Junior B hurling title and a first since 2016 praised Kildimo/Pallaskenry for their part in a hard-fought close final and wished Granagh/Ballingarry the best of luck in the county semi-final. He complimented referee Billy Philips and his officals and the Adare club for having everything in top class order. He then presented the Seamus Flanagan Prepetual Cup to winning Granagh/Ballingarry captain John Carroll to the joy of the Granagh/Ballingarry supporters. John complimented the referee and his officials and the Adare club on a job well done, thanked the players and the management team, Conor O’Keeffe, David Clancy, Andrew Holmes, Eoin Cahill and first aid official Niamh O’Keeffe and all the supporters and called for their hearty cheers for a sporting Kildimo/Pallaskenry and wish them the best of luck in the city championship.

A well-taken point from out near the sideline by second half substitute Richie O’Keeffe five minutes into added time paved the way for a thrilling one point 0-16 to 2-9 victory for the West Winners Granagh/Ballingarry over unlucky East King pins Cappamore at Staker Wallace GAA Grounds in Kilbreedy on Saturday evening to qualify for their first county Junior B Hurling League final since defeating Blackrock 3-10 to 1-9 in the 2016 decider against city winners Caherline. Tomorrow Thursday 22nd June in Kilbreedy at 8pm. The Staker Wallace groundsmen had the pitch in top class condition for the county Junior B Hurling League semi-final despite the heavy rains prior to the game played in front of a big crowd, who gave great support to their sides with Paddy Lyons of the local club in charge. The opening four minutes at Kilbreedy were close and exciting with points traded by Cian Noonan (play) and Shane Duggan Colm Noonan and Jack Conin (free), before a pair of white flags were traded from placed balls for Granagh/Ballingarry through the no.11 Colm Noonan in the 6th and 8th minute to leave the West winners two ahead 0-4 to 0-2 a couple of wides were exchanged before a pair of white flags for the Cappamore boys through Ben Leonard from a placed ball on 12 minutes and Jack Leonard from open play three minutes later for 0-4 each at the end of the third quarter. Granagh/Ballingarry up their game in the next nine minutes with a trio of unanswered white flags through Brian Sheehy, Colm Noonan and Jim O’Keeffe to leave the boys in black and green three ahead 0-7 to 0-4 on 24 minutes. The Cappamore boys far from being overawed with a cracking goal by their no. 9 Kevin Ryan on 26 minutes to lvel the score for the second time. Granagh/Ballingarry 0-7 Cappamore 1-4 four minutes from the interval a couple of wides were exchanged before Colm Noonan split the uprights from open play two minutes into added time to send the Granagh/Ballingarry boys in at the interval lead by one 0-8 to 1-4.
Cappamore dominated the opening five minutes after the interval with white flags through Shane Duggan and Jack Leonad followed up with a green flag by their no. 13 to leave the east Champions fopur ahead 2-6 to 0-8 on 35 minutes. Then

Then white flags were traded from open play by Colm Noonan on 47 minutes to bring his tally for the game to 0-8 (5 frees) and Conor O’Brien two minutes later to leave Cappamore again three ahead, 2-9 to 0-12 on 49 minutes. Then after five minutes of scoreless play the final six minutes plus belonged to Granagh/Ballingarry. Second half substitute Richie O’Keeffe with four unanswered white flags from open play on 54 minutes and placed balls on 56 and 60 minutes before he landed the match-winning point from out near the side-line four minutes into added time to send Granagh/Ballingarry into their first County Junior B Hurling League Final since defeating Blackrock 3-10 to 1-9 in the 2016 decider against city winners Caherline tomorrow Thursday 22nd July on a full time score of 0-16 to 2-9 after a most enjoyable close hard fought contest. This is the climax of the 2023 County Junior B Hurling League Final and the trophy on offer is the County Board Cup. Both sides are in the final on merit after playing a lot of ground hurling. 2023 County Football Championship Launch:
The launch of the Limerick County, Senior, Intermediate, Premier and Junior A Football Championship will take place on Monday 26th June at Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel, Adare. Clubs are asked to send two people to the media launch, preferably the team captain and manager for pictures with the sponsors. It is hoped that the whole event will be over in 30 minutes/person attending is asked for to wear the club jersey won on match day by their respective club.
