This week’s draw will be held on Thursday 15th December in Scanlon’s Bar with a jackpot of €7,400. Online sales cut-off time is 8.00pm the evening of each draw. U21 Hurling & Football
We were due to play the county u21 hurling final on Saturday last versus Dromin Athlaca but the poor weather saw the game postponed in the interest of safety for all. We have no refixture as of time of writing but please check the clubs social media for further updates. We are also in the semi final of the football, no fixture has been made with regards to this game either.
Win a Dream Holiday Draw
The draw for the Win a Dream Holiday to the value of €10,000 will take place on the evening of December the 29th in Scanlon’s bar. A big push is on in the final weeks, one lucky person will win the prize on the night and this could be you! Hurl West along the Road
Our annual road hurling fun competition will take place on Thursday the 29th of December starting with registration for children at 11.30am in Scanlon’s Bar with adult registration from 12.30pm. A team of 3 people will be €10 per person, €5 for Bord na Nog players. Groups will aim to hit the sliotar along the road from Clouncagh to Knockaderry in the least amount of shots, the group with the lowest score wins. Refreshments will be served in Scanlon’s afterwards and it is always a fun day out for all. Everyone is welcome and all funds raised will go towards the field development fund.
History Book Launch
There was a fantastic evening on Sunday last in the Halla Mor at the launch of ‘The History Of Gaelic Games in the Parish of Knockaderry and Clouncagh’. Despite the below zero weather conditions a fine crowd gathered to launch the book which was officially co-launched by Tom Condon, John Cregan whom were present on the night and Micheal O Muircheartaigh via audio message. Sean Liston, the editor of the book gave a very detailed account of his journey through the last five years of the project but in essence it was a lifelong journey as his archive has been expanding for many, many years before the project officially commenced. John Sheehy, the Chairperson of the History committee paid a great tribute to Sean for his efforts and enthusiasm for the project and for leading the way with his research, John stated the parish owed a great debt to Sean for the piece of work that he had completed. John also thanked the History committee and paid tribute to the generosity of the parish who supported the book through the patron scheme. The book, which is almost 600 pages in volume, spans the history of Gaelic Games in the parish for the past 140 years odd, encompassing the camogie and GAA club along with the contribution of many teams representing Ahalin NS down through the years. It also includes significant community events that have taken place over the past 140 years also. Tim Murphy, vice Chairperson of Munster GAA congratulated and paid a warm tribute to the History committee for their efforts and to the club for having the vision to pursue such a project. In his launch address John Cregan, who was performing his final official act as Chairperson of Limerick GAA, spoke of the legacy that the book will leave and how it will forever hold in record the contribution of so many great players, coaches, administrators and volunteers who gave some much of their lives to the GAA in Knockaderry. Other speakers on the night included Orla Ambrose, Chairperson of Knockaderry camogie club, Vincent Hanley, Chairperson of Ahalin NS Board of Management, Ger Downes, Chairperson of Knockaderry GAA and MC, Niall Collins TD and Richard O Donoghue TD.
