CAMOIGE:
*Junior B*
Our second Adult team played their county semi final this morning in Peafield . Thankfully the rain stayed away as the girls battled against Adare on what was a very cold Autumn morning.
Monaleen got off to the perfect start when Aoife Sheehan struck the back of the net with a looping ball over the Adare goal keepers head.
A few minutes later Megan O Keeffe scored the first of her 2 first half points with a well worked score.
A pointed free from Sorcha Ní Fhrighil ended the half with Monaleen taking a good lead on a score line of
Monaleen 1-3
Adare 0-0
The second half was once more dominated by Monaleen and 4 unanswered points in the opening minutes saw a big lead open up before Grace Field scored a goal in the 10th minute to finish the game as a contest. Adare did get on the score board with a goal and a point but points from Megan, Grace Field and Sarah Burke stretched the lead and with Sorcha on absolute fire with her free taking, the game ended with a great win for Monaleen.
Monaleen 2-11
Adare 1-1
The girls now play Knockaderry in the final which details will be confirmed over the next few days. Well done all🇧🇭🇧🇭. Bring on the final!!

*U16*
County champions 2022
Our U16s added the A Championship title to the league title won earlier this year.
Last Sunday 9th October in a wet and windy Mungret Gaa, the Monaleen girls defeated a strong Newcastlewest side who had previously beaten them this year in a group game.
Monaleen played with the wind in the first half and they capitalised on this advantage with plenty of lovely scores from Grace Hegarty, Sarah Burke and Bella Collins and when Ella Rock struck the sliotar on the ground to the back of the net, the gap was widened more. Ellie Madden was as accurate as usual as she tapped over 4 lovely frees to leave Monaleen 1-9 to 0-1 ahead at half time.
With the wind against them now, Monaleen knew that Newcastlewest would put up a good fight back but unfortunately for Newcastlewest they were unable to break down the strong resilient Monaleen defence where every Monaleen girl was playing on top form.
It was harder get the ball up front in the second half due to the inclement weather but when Aoife O Brien found herself alone after a lovely pass, she duly slotted the ball to the net to great cheers from the delighted supporters in attendance.
After the final whistle there was scenes of great joy and happiness as joint captains Ciara Buckley and Grace Hegarty received the cup from limerick camogie chairperson Grace McNamara.
Final score
Monaleen 2-10
Newcastlewest 1-2
A great year as these girls also were part of the Minor team who won the A Championship earlier in the summer.

*U14*
Our U13s played their Shield semi final in the U14 C Championship last Saturday morning in Ahane.
Playing against the hosts was always going to be a tough encounter and with Monaleen down a number of players due to soccer trials, the battle was even greater.
Despite all this, the girls battled hard and even though the result didn’t go their way( Ahane won the final yesterday), they can still be very proud of how well they have done this year getting to the U14 shield league final earlier in the year and only losing narrowly to Kilmallock with a couple of mins to go. The experience of playing against teams a year older will stand to them for next year and we look forward to seeing them continue to progress .
They are not finished yet neither. They are off to play in the Connacht centre of excellence on Saturday 5th of November which will be another great day out for them.
Keep up the hard work all.
It will Eventually pay off🇧🇭🇧🇭🇧🇭🇧🇭
*U11*
33 x U11 girls played in the county Tesco fun blitz last Saturday October 8th.
Monaleen, Ahane and Croagh Kilfinny hosted the 3 county blitzes over the weekend where there was plenty of great camogie and improved skill on display.
Monaleen hosted new club Glenroe , Kilmallock and Newcastlewest. 2 Monaleen teams played 4 matches each on a wonderful morning for camogie where the games were preceded by a lovely parade around the pitch with all the clubs banners proudly on display. Thanks to our 2 first whistler’s and minor/ intermediate players Amy Burke and Emily O Halloran for reffing all 8 games.
Afterwards the visitors were treated to a superb buffet of home baked treats, sandwiches and teas/ coffees by the fantastic parents . This was much appreciated by all and we had many comments of praise and gratitude 👏👏
The blitz ended with all the girls receiving a certificate each and there was 3 raffle prizes with our own Zoe O Neill winning the first prize.
Well done to all the U11s on a superb year of camogie. A year with so much uncertainty given the odd year and the big number of players but the girls have played quite a significant number of matches throughout the year and this has helped them develop their skills more and more. We can’t wait to see them playing u12s next year.
*U10*
This morning our U10s played Croagh Kilfinny in a rescheduled county U10 league match. Both clubs fielded 2 teams where despite the cold and ground conditions in Peafield, the girls did very well and are showing huge improvements with every match. Thanks to minor/ intermediate player Laura Southern for reffing the matches.
Well done and keep up the good work.
*U9*
Our U9s hosted Galway club Oranmore Maree this morning in the Clubhouse. Monaleen were down a few players so were delighted to welcome 7 of our U8s to help them out. Luckily the rain stayed away as the 2 teams played some very entertaining and enjoyable games of camogie. Afterwards the visitors were treated to yet again some great Monaleen hospitality in the Clubhouse with plenty of food and yummy treats which were very welcomed on cold damp morning.
Well done all.
The girls will now continue to train for the next month and they look forward to going up to U10 next year in what will be a busy year.
