Our weekly lotto draw took place on Monday the 30th of May. The numbers drawn were 4, 6, 11, 22. There was no Jackpot winner, so next week the jackpot will increase to €4,400, and the draw will be held in Cleary’s Bar. Club Zap
To keep up to date with all the comings and goings of our club, we would encourage you all to download the Club Zap app by visiting your app store. Follow the onscreen instructions to set up, so you will never again miss out on the latest club news, fixtures, results, lotto draw results etc. Lotto can be played through the app.
Victory Dance
NCW GAA club and NCW Camogie club are having a joint celebratory victory dance in the Longcourt Hotel on the 10th of June, to mark the 2020 Intermediate Hurling Championship and 2021 Senior Football and Senior Camogie championship victories. Tickets for what promises to be a great night can be purchased from Margaret Hannan or Sharon Lyons.
Adult Hurling
We lost out to Adare in the West Senior Hurling Championship on the 24th of May, with Adare recording 1.18 to our 0.12. We now play Feohanagh Castlemahon in our final round robin match of the west championship on Tuesday the 31st of May. The match is currently fixed for 7.30pm in Newcastle West.
Our Junior hurlers had a good 1.16 to 0.10 win over Granagh Ballingarry in the final round robin game of the county junior hurling league on the 25th of May in Newcastle West, but lost out to Rathkeale in the west semi-final on a score line of 1.17 to 1.14 in Knockaderry.
Adult Football
Well done to the Senior footballers who recorded an impressive 2.10 to 1.07 victory over Fr. Casey’s in in the West Championship in Tournafulla on the 25th of May. They will face St. Kierans in the final
and that is currently scheduled for Ballyhahill at 7pm on Friday the 3rd of June. Best of luck to all in involved in the final!
Limerick Senior Footballers
Hard luck to Billy Lee, his management team and the Limerick senior footballers in their Munster final defeat against a very impressive Kerry team in Killarney on Saturday last. Despite the defeat it has been a very good season to date, having qualified for our first Munster final since 2010 and secured promotion to Division, and we are still very much alive in championship 2022.
Limerick Senior Hurlers
Best of luck to the Limerick senior hurlers in the 2022 Munster Senior Hurling Final, which will take place at 4pm in Thurles on Sunday the 5th of June.
NEWCASTLE WEST GAA JUVENILE CLUB NOTES
Cúl Camp
NCW GAA will be hosting a Cúl Camp from Monday 27th June to Friday 1st July, places are filling fast so book now to avoid disappointment – booking details can be found online at www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie.
U17
The U17 championship doesn’t start until the end of June following state exams. Training continues and the squad will having a hurling challenge against Templeglantine on Wednesday the 1st of June in Templeglantine.
U15
The U15 championship is now taking a break for the exams, training continues in the meantime.
U13
Well done to the U13 hurlers on their D2 championship victory over Kilacolla Gaels in Ballyagran on the 26th of May. Next up we face Na Piarsigh in football in Caherdavin on the 2nd of June, in what is a hugely important match for the squad who have recorded 1 victory in their 3 matches to date, with both losses coming by just 2 points.
U11
Our U11 hurlers took on Adare in hurling on the 24th of May in Adare in what was a very entertaining encounter (see picture of the squad) and their next match is against Fr. Caseys in Abbeyfeale on the
31st of May. Numbers at this age group remain very high and great credit is due to the players, parents and mentors of this age group.
The U12 league has also kicked off and we face Croagh Kilfinny Rathkeale in hurling on Saturday the 4th of June in Croagh.
U9
Our U9s had a great evening of hurling in Coolyroe on the 27th of May against Feohanagh Castlemahon, with both sides having close to 30 players togged out. Well done to Daire and Dawid on being awarded our players of the week this week.
U7
We travelled to Abbeyfeale on the 28th of May for U7 football and there is no match this coming Saturday due to the bank holiday weekend.
