This is the second in our 2021 series of webinars on men’s health and we are delighted to announce that we will have special guest and Mayo GAA legend David Brady on to tell us what he learned about connecting with men during COVID. We also have a range of very experienced speakers who will share their learning on engaging men and supporting their health and wellbeing. You can see the previous webinar from April ‘Why Men’s Health?’ here: https://bit.ly/3umyAY0 . Men’s Health Week is an opportunity to focus on the wellbeing of men and boys and the key theme in 2021 is encouraging everyone to begin the process of ‘MAKING
THE CONNECTIONS’ and to ‘CHECK IN, CHECK UP, CHECK IT OUT’. This call to action speaks to the key priority following the impact of COVID-19 and the need for us all to rebuild and nourish our networks and support structures. Go to mhfi.org for more information. We would be delighted if you could join us on the day and please feel free to share this invite with your colleagues and networks. #MensHealthWeek #CheckItOut

CAMOGIE NEWS:
The Monaleen U14 camogie squad
U14 MACKEY CHAMPIONSHIP: Monaleen U14 girls were eager to get back playing matches and last Thursday welcomed Adare Camogie to Monaleen in the opening round of the Mackey Cup Championship.
Monaleen got off to a flier and the first quarter saw some brilliant passages of play with superb first touch and passing resulting in some lovely scores.
Forwards Lucy Power and Grace Hegarty were on fire and were ably assisted by the strength and determination of Rachel Widger at half forward. Ella Rock caused havoc with her speedy runs and added some good scores whilst the hardworking duo of Molly Morrissey and captain Millie Reen also added to the score sheet.
Our midfield pairing of Robyn d’Arcy and Alice Sheedy dominated the ground around the centre and sent ball after ball into the forwards.
The second half saw the Monaleen girls play against the wind but our centre half back Rebecca Bromell was in magnificent form and with the help of her two super wing backs Lily Reid and Emma McGrath , they managed to keep the ball away from Adare’s forward line.
Emma O’Leary and Andrea Costello in the corner back positions were as solid as ever and Carrie McCormack at full back held off any impending Adare attack. Goalkeeper Erika McCarthy had a quiet evening but was very confident with anything that was thrown at her.
Our younger subs were introduced in the second half and fitted in perfectly. Orlaith Purcell was her usual tigerish self, clearing lots of ball. Charly Liston, Katie O Gorman and Sarah Sullivan took over in the forward line and all 3 added to the Monaleen scores. Sarah O’Halloran came on in midfield and she too played her part in this convincing win.
Unused subs Isabelle Bromell, Aisling O’Leary, Louise Burke, Hazel Noonan and Eabha Cregan supported their teammates on the sideline and they too will play their part as the championship progresses.
Speedy recovery to our talented player Kate Moloney who missed out on Thursday’s match through injury on what was her 14th birthday. We look forward to seeing Kate back playing soon.
So good opening game for the Monaleen girls. Up next week is match away to our neighbours in Ahane.

JUNIOR SUMMER LEAGUE: On Friday June 11th our Junior team started the Summer League with a match away to Mungret. Some good scores in the 1st half from Grace Malone & Aine Hegarty plus a great goal from Saoirse Fitzgerald had the sides level at half time. However, despite some pointed frees from Aimee O’Brien the game finished with a 2 point win for the home side. 0-11 to 1-6. This group are still getting to know each other and this match was an important step towards bigger games ahead. Next up for the Junior team is an away game on Friday 18th to Tournafulla.
PANEL: Aimee O’Brien, Abi Houlihan, Aoife Darcy, Aoilean Hennessy, Amy Kavanagh, Megan O’Keeffe, Jenny Holmes, Grace Malone, Saoirse Fitzgerald, Keelin Corcoran, Avril Kinnerk, Katie Golden, Ella McCarthy, Aine Hegarty, Shalini Kujur, Kim Comerford, Chloe Haugh & Ellen Finucane.
U7 & U8 BLITZ: On Sunday 13th of June, Monaleen Camogie hosted an internal club blitz for our U7 & U8 players. Over 60 players participated in this event. All girls participated in five 10-minute matches, for some of the girls this was their first blitz. There was plenty of fun, laughter and camogie on this glorious morning at Monaleen Clubhouse. Huge thanks to all who organised and volunteered at this event. Check out Monaleen Camogie Facebook, Twitter & Instagram social media accounts to see video & photos from the day. Thanks to our PR-og Saoirse Lane who covered this event.
