MUNGRET ST PAUL’S GAA CLUB NOTES
LAND DEVELOPMENT UPDATES
Although the pitches are still silent, the Mungret St. Pauls Land Development Committee have been working hard in the background getting all plans in place ready for Phase 1 of our development. For those who are unaware, this development incorporates expanding our current facilities to create new state of the art Adult Pitches, an Astroturf Playing Surface with Lighting and also a new high spec Wall Ball facility for our growing population and talented teams.
While the committee are busy behind the scenes- generating an information flyer and getting updates available on our website so all members, local businesses and the community will easily be able to access the information. There have been physical changes to the grounds already, work begun at the grounds behind the hurling wall with many trees being removed (see image1 ). The edges of the grounds between the club house and the Gaelscoil were cleaned up (see image 2). We are working with Hutch O’Malley design engineers to create a 3D drawing of the proposed plans for the website and have also been applying for grants including recently becoming live on the Sports Capital Register.
The plan is to officially launch this project and have all information ready on May 1st, so until then… keep your eyes peeled!

LIMERICK CAMOGIE 4 FOCUS
We were delighted to be able to lend our support to Limerick Camogie the weekend of the 19th March when they launched their fundraising drive to help raise some much needed funds for Focus Ireland and the players training fund.
They asked camogie players from clubs across Limerick (and beyond!) to solo within their 5k across the county, record, tag on social media and donate. The initial target was €15,000 but by the time of going to press, they had exceeded expectations and were heading for 20k!
Thanks so much to all our members, some of whom met at the pitch with their team mates early on Saturday morning and others who hit their garden or local park. Your efforts helped Limerick Camogie to reach their target and beyond as well as turning Facebook, Twitter and Instagram green for the whole weekend!
CAMOGIE PR-OG VOLUNTEER
We are delighted to welcome Katie O’Callaghan as the new Camogie PR-Óg volunteer at Mungret St Pauls Camogie Club for 2021!!
The programme is designed to give young people the opportunity to volunteer for their clubs and gain valuable skills and experience that they can use in the future.
Katie will assist our current Camogie PRO, Annie Browne, in promoting the club and sport at all levels.
We asked Katie to tell us a little bit about herself, and once you read the below, we are sure there will be no doubt that Katie will be a huge asset to the club! We are very lucky to have her!
“Hello, My name is Katie O’Callaghan.
I am a transition year student at “Coláiste Nano Nagle” & am extremely proud to be a member of Mungret St Pauls Camogie.
I am new to Camogie. I played my first ever match in July last year (2020) Joining Mungret St Pauls Camogie has brought so many positives to my life, both physically and mentally. It has given me a clear sight of what I want for my future, helped me so much with my mental health, & given me a positive and confident attitude of believing in myself & to never give up! For me, Camogie is now my second family. You may make mistakes but learn lessons that you will remember for life. You have so much support from teammates, new friends, parents, & coaches. There are so many positives to Camogie & being a part of a team & I can’t imagine my life now without Camogie in it. Taking up the new positions of PR-Óg for Mungret St Pauls Camogie means so much to me, because I joined Camogie at 15yrs old, & the huge impact it has had on my life in such a short amount of time has encouraged me to be able to show other younger (& older) girls that it could do the same for them & that it’s never too late to join or take part or show support.”
Best of luck Katie!
