Lyons Of Limerick County Premier Intermediate Hurling Relegation Final 2020
Bruree 1-19 (22)
Dromin Athlacca 2-25 (31)
Bruree will play Intermediate Hurling in 2021 after been defeated by 9 points to neighbours Dromin Athlacca. For 40 minutes it was score for score but Dromin Athlacca found some extra gears in the last 20 minutes to prevail on the day. Bruree started very well with 2 Sam Cronolly points. Dromin Athlacca replied with points from James Kelleher and David Reidy from frees.
Jimmy Leslie scored an excellent point from wing back.Frankie Barrington then added 2 superb points for Bruree. Dromin Athlacca replied when David Breen goaled to give them a 3 point lead. This would be a purple patch for them as they would add another goal and 3 points.
Bruree didn’t lie down and had there own purple patch scoring 7 points. Ronan O’Halloran hitting 6 fantastic points from frees. Bruree didn’t finish there. A Puck out from goalkeeper Daniel Lane was cot superbly by Sam Cronolly. He found he’s brother Tommy on the run who was been fouled but credit to Referee Eamonn Stapleton from Doon he played advantage with Tommy finding James Vincent O’Brien unmarked and from 18 yards out James hit a powerful low shot to the back of the Dromin Athlacca net.
This put Bruree 1 point ahead as we entered injury time. Dromin Athlacca would get a chance to level the match and David Reidy did just that from a free. This left the halftime score Bruree 1-12 To Dromin Athlacca’s 2-09.
Like the first half Bruree started very well. Points from Ronan O’Halloran (1 Free) and 2 from play from Kieran O’Dea and Sam Cronolly extended the Bruree’s lead to 3 points. Dromin Athlacca would reply with points of there own from James Kelleher (4) and David Reidy (2 Frees).Ronan O’Halloran was again on target from a free to close the gap but Dromin Athlacca in the last 20 minutes would move up a few gears. A Mark Fitzpatrick point was cancelled out by another Ronan O’Halloran free, David Breen and 3 more David Reidy frees would extend Dromin Athlacca’s lead to 8 points with 7 minutes to go.
Bruree’s Ronan O’Halloran who was outstanding from placed balls all day, He would finish with a tally of 11 points, Ronan would go on to hit 2 more points from frees and a classic Sam Cronolly line ball from 35 yards out would be Bruree’s last score of the match. Over the second half Dromin Athlacca out scored Bruree 16 points to 7.Dromin Athlacca finished the better team on the day with points from Sean O’Leary and 4 points from the sticks of James Linehan and David Reidy. The referee would blow the final whistle to leave the final score Bruree 1-19 Dromin Athlacca 2-25.
Bruree played well in patches in the first half and the start of second half, as did Dromin Athlacca but it was the last 20 minutes that just didn’t happen for the lads. Well done to Dromin Athlacca deserved winners on the day. The players can keep there heads up high. It’s been a tough few weeks for the club. The footballers were relegated from Junior A and we lost one of Bruree’s & Limericks Greatest ever players in Jim O’Brien.

BRUREE U6’s & U8’s HURLING
Bruree U6’s and U8’s played knockainey tonight in Bruree. Bruree played a very talented Knockainey side. The bruree players had some brilliant moments of great skill and showed great determination but fell a little bit short on the night. The mixture of both U6 and U8 boys and girls playing excellent Hurling was brilliant. Thanks to all involved tonight, the management team and of course the 22 kids that turned up and played their hearts out for Bruree on the night. Well Done
