Mungret/St Pauls GAA Club Notes:
Christmas Greatings:
On behalf of the Mungret St Paul’s Executive Committee, I would like to wish all our players, volunteers, club members, sponsors, and their families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
As we pause at this time of year, we also remember our club members and families who have lost loved ones during the year. We thank them sincerely for their contribution in helping to build the great One Club that Mungret St Paul’s GAA Club is today.
2025 has been a resounding success both on and off the field and truly another historic year for our club. Our achievements include our first Senior Football Championship title, first Junior A Camogie Championship title, first Premier U20 Hurling Championship title, Ladies Senior B Football and Junior Championship titles, and our first Féile Camogie A County title. Across the juvenile section, we continue to field two teams at every age group, all of whom are highly competitive in their respective competitions. In addition, over 60 of our players and coaches proudly represented their county this year, from U13 right through to Masters level.
Off the field, we celebrated the launch of the Mungret St Paul’s GAA Club history book, which is still available for purchase. We also marked the official opening of Phase One of our Club Development, an occasion honoured by the presence of the Presidents of the GAA, LGFA, and Camogie Association, alongside national and local politicians. Sincere thanks to all our members, sponsors, and volunteers who made the event such an outstanding success.
As we look ahead to 2026, our focus remains on the continued development of all our players across every code and level, while striving for further success at Senior level across the club. We have already commenced the next phase of our development and greatly appreciate your continued support as we progress through Phase Two and begin Phase Three of our club facilities. Thank you once again to everyone involved in Mungret St Paul’s. Enjoy the Christmas and New Year with your family and friends, stay safe, and enjoy a well-earned break.
Fintan Hynes Chairperson, Mungret St Paul’s GAA Club.

U20 Premier Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 1-14 Oola 0-13
Mungret St. Pauls U-20 Premier Footballers brought the curtain down on 2025 in unforgettable fashion as a dramatic late goal sealed a hard-fought Final victory over a resilient Oola side in Ahane, on Sunday 28 December 2025 securing a historic clean sweep of Senior, Premier U-20 and Premier Minor Football titles. In what was the final game of the year, conditions were crisp but ideal for football, and it was Oola who settled first with an early free inside the opening minute. That score would be their only joy for much of the opening quarter as Mungret St. Pauls quickly found their rhythm.
Ciaran Scully opened Mungret St. Pauls account with a fine point from play on five minutes, setting the tone for a dominant first-half display. Mark O’Brien and Luke Walsh followed with well-taken scores, Walsh adding a free and an excellent hand-passed effort over the bar as Mungret St. Pauls surged into a 0-4 to 0-1 lead.
Oola briefly halted the momentum with a point from play, but Mungret St. Pauls responded immediately through another Mark O’Brien score. Despite Oola keeping in touch with scores near the closing stages of the first half, Mungret St. Pauls finished the half strongly, with Tom Lloyd and Scully again on target to establish a deserved 0-7 to 0-4 interval lead. The second half told a very different story. Oola emerged with renewed intensity and struck two superb two-pointers in quick succession, flipping the scoreboard and suddenly putting Mungret St. Pauls under real pressure. Luke Walsh steadied nerves with a precise effort that skimmed the crossbar, but Oola edged ahead again as the contest became increasingly tense.
Management changes injected fresh energy into the Mungret St. Pauls ranks, with Amhlaoibh Bohane and Aaron Morrow entering the fray. Conor Mangan brought the sides level with a crucial score before a period of relentless back-and-forth football ensued.
Rory Mullins proved instrumental during this phase, popping over vital points as Oola continued to apply pressure. When Oola moved two clear late on, the final seemed to be slipping away, but Mungret St. Pauls composure and belief never wavered.
A burst of late points, including a vital score from Conor Ó Longaigh, hauled Mungret St. Pauls back level before Rory Mullins once again delivered under pressure to cancel out another Oola score. Then came the decisive moment. In the 31st minute, Mungret St. Pauls were awarded a penalty, and Mark O’Brien showed ice-cold nerve, burying the ball to the net to spark scenes of jubilation among players and supporters alike. Substitute Thomas O’Donaill added the final point moments later to seal a famous victory.
At the final whistle, the scoreboard read Mungret St. Pauls 1-14 Oola 0-13, confirming a landmark achievement for the club. This triumph sees Mungret St. Pauls become only the second club ever to capture the Senior, Premier U-20 and Premier Minor Football titles in the same year, a testament to the strength, depth, and dedication of players, mentors, and the wider club community. Congratulations to Luke Walsh who was awarded the Man of the match from Wayne Fitzgerald with team captain, Tom Lloyd accepting the U-20 Premier Football cup from Gerard McNamara. Well done to all the players and management.
A year to remember ended in the best possible way.
