Pallasgreen LGFA:
Well done to the Pallas Junior Ladies Footballers who have booked their place in the County Final after a fine performance and hard-fought victory over Galtee Gaels last Sunday morning in Kilbreedy.
Just two days on from Storm Amy, the wind still had its say, with a strong breeze influencing the game. Pallas played with the wind advantage in the opening half, but it was Galtee Gaels who struck first, converting a penalty inside the opening three minutes to take an early lead.
Pallas, however, showed great composure and settled into the game quickly. A goal from Caoimhe Butler and a point from Ava Hourigan swung momentum firmly in Pallas’ favour, giving them a lead they would not relinquish. Further dominance followed, with Cliodhna Ryan raising a green flag and Butler adding a couple of well-taken points to send Pallas into the break leading 2-5 to 1-0.
Turning to face the wind in the second half, Pallas knew a strong defensive effort would be required and they delivered in spades. With resolute defending and tireless work across the pitch, they held Galtee Gaels scoreless for the opening 20 minutes of the second half.
On the attacking front, points from Áine Looby, Emily Franklin, and the ever-influential Caoimhe Butler kept the scoreboard ticking over. Although Galtee Gaels managed two late goals to narrow the margin, the outcome was never truly in doubt, as Pallas had done enough to secure a deserved 3-8 to 3-1 victory. A strong team performance, full of grit, skill, and determination, now sees the Junior Ladies march on to the County Final. Well done to all involved; Team; Roisin McCarthy, Ciara McNamara, Sarah Dillon, Catriona Dillon, Aine Dillon, Hannah Dillon, Niamh Mulcahy, Sinead McGuinness, Aoife Connolly, Cliodhna Ryan (1-0), Emily Franklin (0-1), Aoife Purcell, Caoimhe Butler (2-4), Eabha Hourigan (0-1), Aine Looby (0-2).
