Intermediate Footballers Maintain 100% Record:
County Intermediate Football Championship
ABK 4-18 Glin 1-13
Our intermediate footballers made it 3 wins from 3 following a comfortable win versus Glin in a rain swept Foynes on Saturday. Leading by ten points at half time thanks to two first half goals from David O’Shaughnessy and Joey Rushe the result never looked in doubt. O’Shaughnessy and Padhraic McMahon would add two further second half goals to secure our third consecutive championship win. Under 14 Hurling County Semi Final:
ABK Desmonds 2-08 Crecora-Mainster 2-11
There was heartbreak for our under 14 hurlers on Sunday morning in Rathbane as Crecora-Mainster held on for a three point win to advance to the County Final at our expense.
After a sluggish first half we found ourselves ten points down at half time on a scoreline of 2-08 to 0-04. However a hugely improved second half performance kick started by a goal from Kieran Condon had us right back in the game. Frank Murphy dispatched a penalty to the Crecora-Mainster net with 8 minutes remaining and it was game on with only two points separating the sides. With the game in injury time Danny Anglim cannoned a shot off the crossbar as we desperately scrambled to send the game in to extra time. Incredibly this was the sixth goal effort from ABK which struck the crossbar in 50 minutes of play as the Crecora-Mainster goal led a charmed life. The final whistle sounded monents later ending our interests in this year’s Championship. Overall there were alot of positives gained in 2025 for this group with plenty of strides made. Well done to all involved. Junior C Hurling Championship:
ABK 0-12 Adare 0-13
Hard luck to our Junior C hurlers who were pipped at the post by Adare last weekend in the County Junior C Hurling Championship. Adare scored a last minute winner to take the two points. We are still very much in contention for qualification in this Championship with 2 wins and 1 loss from our three games. We have three more group games to come against Doon, Crecora Manister and Kildimo Pallaskenry as we bid for a semi final spot. County Junior A Premier Hurling Championship:
Our Junior A Hurlers bid to qualify for the knockout stages of the County Junior A Premier Hurling Championship for the first time since the competition became an all County championship in 2020. Wins over Tournafulla and Monagea along with a spirited draw versus Crecora have us on five points going in to the final round versus Monaleen this Sunday in Adare. A win on Sunday will see us top the group and advance straight to a semi final. A draw or a loss may still be enough to get us through to a quarter final if other results go our way. Best of luck to all involved.
